Nvidia pricing is a joke?

Pricing of new gen GPUs needs to be at the historical pricing of ~£400. We shouldn't be concluding a ~30% performance increase going hand in hand with a 30% price increase is OK.

I couldn't imagine shelling out nearly £600 for a graphics card. For that kind of money I'd want a nearly complete set up to enjoy my games on for a few years.

Around three hundred or so is about the most I've paid for a single gpu card since I started pc gaming (thirteen years now), so something around that price is what I expect to pay for my next card. If it turns out to be a little more but in my eyes is still worth it, then fair enough. Of course, this will probably change when I graduate to 1440p sometime in the future.

If only the 760 ti and 770 would have been the same chip as the 780 gtx instead of rebadged 600 series i might have been interested in something like SLI 760 ti. For now though my 7950 crossfire setup will be more than enough with the current pricetag the new lineup is going to have.

I remember £300 - £350 got you the best card on the market.

There is no way I would pay £400 to £700 for a card,my limit is £200 and is staying at that,I don't care if I'm one to two series behind as I can't see any real benefit in having a new card over a old series card.

And yes,nvidia pricing is a joke :)

My sentiments exactly.

Intel have CPU's from cheap to expensive and for most people in the middle to top range you can't tell much difference. Nobody bashes Intel for doing this. So why the hate on Nvidia?

Nvidia and AMD provide a complete range, you pay your money and make your choice.

Other than the green eyed monster I can't see the problem.

NVIDIA never had £800 - £900 cards until the Titan unless you were into professional stuff with the Quadro cards £2,000 upwards. As they aren't gaming cards.

I haven't read the whole thread but I'm not seeing hate. I see a lot of dislike but I haven't seen shaking the cage and foaming at the mouth, yet.

Seriously think about it, consumer gaming cards that cost more than televisions... imagine the day gaming cards hit £1,000.

I'll leave that to the graphic card gurus.

Jealousy being blamed again? *facepalm*

I'm surprised you of all people don't think it's ridiculous, as a fair amount of Titan owners seem to be the ones that are most annoyed by the GTX780.

The £800-£1000 Titan, then the GTX780 that's got potentially more performance due to higher possible overclocking coming out for 2/3 that is part of ridiculous pricing.

I have a Titan and i think the cost of it is disgusting ! so what exactly am i jealous of ?

You see this kind of comment really gets up my nose, you say you can't see the problem well then you're not paying attention. I don't see any jealousy in this thread just people who could probably afford a 780GTX but are unwilling to pay over the odds for it.

What's funny is an overclocked 780GTX beats our Titans and costs 300 euro less only 3 months after its release and you don't see the problem

The problem of GTX 780 and Titan is that it would be a bit like IF McD brought out a super doper deluxe meal set (Titan) at £8-£9 (£800-£900), and then at the same time, they inflated the price of the standard value meal sets from £4 (£400) by 37.5% to £5.50 (£550) after just one year's time, and replacing the £4 price bracket with new "super value" meal sets with the "£1 sandwiches" (i.e. Cheeseburger, Mayo Chicken etc), small fries and drink, trying to convince the consumer the lower two meal sets are good value comparing to the deluxe meal.

Would McD have different products at different price range? Yes. But it doesn't mean it wouldn't be a rip off. It's not people can't afford the £4 or £5.50 meal, the problem is the meals "ain't worth the asking price".

And when you overclock a Titan.

If you overclock a 570,670 you attain 580/680.

I'm very happy with my Titan. I knew what I was getting into and I'm glad Nvidia made a cut down version at a more affordable price.

The problem is you are not taking what the competition has on offer, or even Nvidia's own last gen cards.

The Titan is no doubt the fastest card that is right now, but it is not million miles ahead of the 7970 (or even the GTX680). The GTX780 is still good margin faster than the 7970 yes (around 0-20% ahead depending on the game), but it is not £230-£250 faster. Also it is as bit-tech has put it, that kinda of increase should be something expected of moving gen after over 12 months, but without the price bumping (from £400 to £550). With the GTX780 on £550 on average, it should had been something that launched 12 months ago alongside the GTX680 rather than now.
