Newborn Baby Flushed Down The Toilet

I did not say that - they are just so undeveloped that they cannot strictly be called "babies". It's like saying masturbation is killing babies.

Life is an fascinating thing. In some ways we (All life forms on the planet) are actually billions of years old since, as you point out, there is no part of the reproductive process that involves a biological discontinuity.

However, the only logical point for defining the moment that a new individual comes into being is conception. The argument that there is a sort of black hole of existence between conception and some vague (and shifting) definition of "Viability" during which it is OK to kill such an individual on the grounds that they are not really alive is, as I said, a bit of convenient sophistry that (Some) people and societies use to kid themselves that they are not actually doing what they are actually doing!

Also, as I said. I am not an "Anti abortionist" as such and I am not sitting here humming "Every Sperm is Sacred" (Well maybe a few bars). What I want is for society to recognise and admit to itself what it is that actually being done! I am also bugged by the (What is to me anyway) bizarre hypocrisy where by Killing a baby 5 months A/C is a "Womans right to choose", doing so 10 months A/C makes you an "evil baby killing monster"!

To me the abortion issue is not so much about arguing over what exactly defines this logically non-existent black hole, It is simply about defining under what circumstances should it be acceptable to kill unwanted children!

Actually we do! The legal Abortion rate in the UK is running at just under 200,000/Annum. (Around 7 million in total since legalisation)

Killing unwanted children in vast numbers is routine in the west. It is just that we try to kid ourselves that because they are very small and not yet independently viable that they are not actually alive.

Amazing how much coverage this got in the media. The case of Kermit Gosnell in America was pretty much ignored.

This is bog standard news in China worringly.

I didn't find the comment that funny, but your name went well with the topic :D:D

Also @

According to a police source in Jinhua, in the eastern province of Zhejiang, the woman gave birth unexpectedly when she went to the lavatory on Saturday, and the newborn fell into the squat toilet.

For a baby to just 'fall out' she must have quite a wide v.

It wasn't ignored, there was a media blackout as pointed out within one of those articles

Not sure what point you are trying to make.

The mainstream media. Much of the media ignored Gosnell at first. Why? Perhaps because they felt abortion is too sensitive an issue or because they thought it was plain “icky”. One journalist dismissed it as a local crime story – as if it ranked with graffiti or a drink driving charge. We have to thank conservative outlets like National Review, Drudge and those crazy Right-wing bloggers for keeping the issue burning and eventually shaming the mainstream into covering it. I was a little slow, too, and for that I say “mea culpa”.

As parent of two young boys this story makes me feel very sad and also very angry.

Just hope the child survives without any long term issues and is in good care.

So do Chinese loos not have the u bend in them or something? If there like UK loos I really can't see how he slipped down the toilet pipe!!! And like someone else mentioned the umbilical cord is attached to the mother so how did it slip down the pipe? Did it tear it off the mother, if that's the case the mother would have a lot of bleeding I would have thought.

Sounds like a made up story to get her out of being prosecuted to me.
