...and I can't remember 8 of the 12 miles...

Anyone else have this?

I must have quite literally driven on auto pilot, most likely because I was sat thinking(worrying) that this Final Stage Resistor won't sort out my blowers and let me have some heat on these cold mornings, if I need heat I have to put the heated seats on.

It's called auto-pilot and it used to happen to me all the time when I was doing ~40mi each way.

Never happened on shorter commutes though.

Happens all the time to me as well. Whenever I want to go somewhere after work other than home, I go into auto pilot and drive home. Park on the drive and realise I forgot to go the where I needed to be, then have to hop back in the car again!

Happens frequently, I'll often find myself at a particular motorway junction and wonder how on earth I got there!

Not to worry, I only drive a six axle 44 tonner......

It happened quite frequently when I was doing a 35 mile motorway commute but does not happen on my 6 mile journey to work now.

When I used to work in the office every day it used to happen to me regularly. I'd arrive at work and realise I had ZERO memory of driving through a particular village...gave me the collywobbles thinking about it!

yep, not so much on shorter journeys but ones that at 20mins+ I tend to "auto-pilot".

great example is going back home after going to my parents house, about 35 mins casual driving, concentrate over the first bit as its dirt track, drive along the road for a few mins... start thinking about some topic.... 15 mins later im on the ourskirts of town and feels like I "snap back to reality" and can't remember any of the driving just what I was thinking about :p

another one was the other weekend I was going to H'west from swansea so needed the M4 west bound. picked up my mate, headed for the motorway along fabian way from town (for those of you that know it), now the first turning for motor way goes up a long slip road that bends round and goes east. force of habit as we rarely ever go west of swansea on the motor way and I just instantly took that junction only realising when i was about to merge .."oh ****.....why on earth did I go this way?!" xD even had the sat nav on telling me to go straight but my brain said nope! hehe

This happens to me when I drive down to my daughters, It's a 2 hour 5 minute journey I've done hundreds of times. When I pull up at hers I always get this What the **** just happened there feeling when I can't account for about an hour of the journey.
Doesn't happen when I go on my bike, I remember every second of those trips. :p

Yep do it all the time. I often wonder how I was driving or how I would have reacted to something happening. That's the trouble with driving roads you've driven a million times.
