I came across this video and thought this man deserves to get his story heard.

seems harsh to me plus the way they cancelled his wife's policy. i do also kind of see it from the company's view that he didn't mention it, albeit he didn't know to. the company should have looked at his medical records when he took out his policy.

Googling what he said the military classed him as having makes it obvious it's a stroke so while it sucks for him It's ultimately his fault.

I don't know what's your opinion OP?
When I first came across the video it had something like 15 views and I felt terribly sorry for the guy, not only due to the awful situation he was put in, but also the fact that his story has been somewhat overlooked. In addition I think it's very important that people understand that this could happen to them.

what if you have had a stroke and aren't aware but it later turns out you have?

shouldn't these companies do a full medical at the start?

Insurance... They're all criminals really they push our premiums up even if we sneeze in their direction, and if they can find a loophole in any contract they will take it to avoid paying out thieving ****s!

Emailed the video to Watchdog, who knows they might even look at it.

I hate all these insurance products because you know the companies involved will do whatever they can to wiggle out of paying up.

What a horrible situation, insurance companies are scum, something needs to be done about them , we need much better regulators in place to curb their immoral practices and procedures.

Watching the video, did i hear mention that this happened back in 2010, wonder what has happened since if i did hear right.

Insurance companies ripping people off. that surely isn't possible.

They normally request to see your medical records. However, if they see you've filled out the form incorrectly, it just gives them the reassurance they won't have to payout when something goes wrong.

Surely the fact that a left frontal infarct was a form of stroke would've came up in the conversation when he had his initial examinations?

Regardless, it is a sad story but typical of insurance companies, never trust them and always read the small print.

and thats a disgusting practice that should be illegal, I bet they would happily have kept taking his money if he never put a claim in

To people that don't have a clue:

If an insurer checked every persons medical details at every point of sale they would have even higher premiums, it would take forever, and at the end of the day why should they? The client should know what's happened to them in their lifetime. They will also state that the insurer may not check the details with your doctor until a claim is made, is this okay? At this point this guy would have said yes.

If any of you have taken out life insurance you'll see the huge medical questionnaire you have to fill out, it's not a small process.

A left frontal infarct is a stroke, he knew he had it, he didn't disclose it. Tough s###, he was a higher risk, if he'd have told the insurer that when he bought it he'd have paid a lot more than £50pm or even declined cover.

His own fault.
