My system as follows
2500k @4.2Ghz
2 x 4GB Corsair dominator @ 1600mhz
Samsung 830 128GB SSD
WD Black 2TB HDD
I was recently running a 460GTX and never really did any gaming, a free copy of metro cropped up and soon after that a VERY cheap 580GTX, my current 500w (I think akasa) PSU ran fine until I put the new card in, once the system gets some stress it shuts the PC down.
As a temporary measure I have the 6 & 8 pin connectors connected to a separate PSU and the system runs just great, so that obviously tells me that the PSU can’t cope.
What PSU would be reasonable to run my system AND allow for a future upgrade to SLI 580s should I so require it ?
I am thinking a 500w should just about be enough for what I have but perhaps my PSU has had its best days (bought 2nd hand off MM and unsure of age) so if I go for a 750 this should be adequate for the planned system.
