Not sure if this is working as intended or what, I have a Asus Rampage IV Gene and when the system is overclocked, I press the power button and it powers on for a second then shuts down, waits a couple of seconds then powers up and boots. When it initially powers on for a second the fans spin, the cathode ignites, everything but then dies.

Is this supposed to happen? Before the RIVG I had a P9X79-LE and that did the same thing so maybe its some Asus feature? However I have never had a board do this when overclocked before...

LOTS of Asus boards do this, since I can remember too.

How annoying, still I guess there's a reason for it :(

e: Cathodes you say? Pics please :)

I said cathode :P

Yeh no problem there, my board does that too- nowt to worry about.

Although the very first time it happens, you get that momentary panic of 'ohmygodivebrokenit!' before it springs to life again. Nice adrenaline buzz...
