Hi all,
I'm trying to get a HD 5450 working with a HP Pavilion Slimline PC.
nothing I have tried is working.
It's like the motherboard can't see it.
I'm not an idiot (Don't worry) The card is as far down into the PCI-E slot and there is no 6 pin to connect so it's not that.

First of all, can anyone tell me if the HD 5450 is compatible with this mb:

I can't see that i'm doing anything wrong, it may be a simple fact of incompatibility.

I know this PC is a piece of junk but would be nice to be able to get this card to work :/

Any chance of a link to the actual PC model?

Have you tried going into BIOS to see if there are any possible options that might help the problem?

I can't find a web page for it but here's the name: HP Pavilion Slimline s5100 Desktop PC series
I did go into the BIOS and I changed the default display device to PCI-E x16 (Where the card is)
I changed a few things around but still nothing on CPU-Z :/

What version of PCIe is the motherboard using (e.g. 1.0, 2.0, 2.1)? Perhaps the motherboard doesn't support the PCIe 2.1 x16 that the 5450 runs at.

I googled around a bit and found this Intel page which shows that the Intel Controller doesn't control the PCIe slot, perhaps it is an external chip which does this.

Was there an old card you were using with it and if so, what PCIe speed was it rated at?

Nah there has never been a card in it. Only used onboard graphics.

Do you know that the card actually works? Have you tried it in another PC, even if you pulled it working, maybe something happened?

You can try resetting the bios to its default and see if that helps but tbh that's clutching at straws.

As you've eliminated the card as good, maybe try another low powered gpu in the slot if you have one to see if the problem repeats.

On paper at least with what you've proved so far, it should be working :(
