Not sure what bird it is, kind of like a baby magpie but with green/blue tail feathers?

Poor little fella, seems to be hopping about but cant fly too well. Was just going to leave him overnight and let nature take its course but theres two cats on our fence watching him - cant stomach to see the cats toy with it and tear it apart slowly. I'll have my Staffy stand guard against the moggys :D

Ive managed to place a washing basket over him and throw in some bread. Least its safe from the cats, even if it does die overnight.

If hes still alive in the morning, any suggestions?

Could well be a magpie (size and pictures are needed) up close they do appear to have a slight green blue shimmer

A magpie (if it is) is actually quite an easy bird to look after a they eat anything (within reason) is worth offering some food and water to it

It probably isn't injured but just fledging. If the latter then tonight will be the big moment to decide if it makes it or not - if it does then it will probably be flying and roosting in safety tomorrow.

Just allow nature to take its course.

Very intelligent are magpies. If you feed it, water it and keep it safe, you might end up with one like my mate had. A wild magpie that came to him when he called. It was a bit freaky but v. cool.

I had a tame jackdaw, their intelligence puts adog to shame

Well, he was still alive this morning but just continued to hop about. Just gonna have to leave him exposed in the garden and hope the sun warms his wings and he has a try.
