** Star Trek Into Darkness **Spoilers!!**

Saw it yesterday!...

Being an Old School Trek Nerd, Yes there were Plot Holes, Yes there were Inconsistencies, Yes there were 'Cringworthy' bits...

But I'll give it a 9.9/10

To answer a few of the points from you lot (in my opinion only)

Nero Changed everything!!
1, Kirk will be a different person all together!, Imagine Growing up all your life with a Great Friend, a Mentor, a massive influence on every second of your life! - Your Dad! Kirk had a fantastic relationship with his Dad in the original time line, he was the reason he entered Star Fleet, Okay Kirk was still a slightly egotistical control freak but he knew how to take command perfectly, never second guessing himself etc.. Now take that Influence away and have you life controlled by an Emotionally crippled Mother who just wants to protect you, and smother you, and you'll probly turn out a little different!

2, Spok Explained why he's different!, Imagine watching your Entire planet being destroyed and every person (bar 10,000ish) wiped out in a split second, and Your Mum die in front of you! I'm not sure you'd be the same person you were before that event!, You'd question yourself at every move!! and Controlling you Temper (especially as you'r only half Vulcan) well I'm not sure I could!!.

3, Onto Earths Defences - I reckon Admiral Marcus told Star Fleet to 'Stand Down' or summut! he was the Bossman!!,
But Earths Defences have always been a joke!, In Best of Both Worlds, Apart from the Battle at Wolf359, Once the Borg Cube broke through to Earth there was only 3 Defensive ships attempting to hold them back as they passed Mars! Ve'ger in The Motion Picture, The Probe in Voyage Home all got past to earth without any interference!!

Looking forward the the Next in a couple of years!!

Just in from seeing the Imax 3d version and thought it was stunning and concur with the 9.9/10.

The sound effects were insanely good and the film was brilliant from start to finish. It was thoroughly entertaining and the cast have certainly grown on me, I wonder how JJ will do the Borg!!!

Watched this yesterday, solid 9/10 film for me.

Loved it, really enjoying how they are working with the slightly different Trek reality, the rework of that famous scene with spock and Jim in the engine room. Loved the drama of the ship in pearl, the sound effects and the way the music score worked with the scenes.
Very tempted to see it again this week tbh.

Anyone read this? Sums up my feelings quite well http://io9.com/star-trek-into-darkness-the-spoiler-faq-508927844 (spoilers in link)

Sadly I picked more than a few of those up, not because I was looking for them, but because I literally could not avoid noticing them. I HATE it when I watch a good sci-fi and it forces me to think; "WTF wait a minute, that would't happen...", because when it comes to Sci-Fi I can watch, love and accept any scenario as long as it stays consistent, and maintains a contextually credible set of events that don't let doubt seep into my mind. This movie failed to do that on many levels, some of them mind-numbingly stupid and needless.

Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy it, but the overall experience was marred by the fact that it didn't even try to be intelligent, it basically didn't give a **** about the viewer and instead just indulged the director. That's not how great movies are made, that's how Transformers was made.

I hope for the next one he listens to criticism and puts together a more cohesive and less irritating story.

7/10.

Finally got to see this last night, the normal version rather than 3d.

Not as bad as I thought it could have been, and aside from the obvious plot holes, it's an ok sci-fi film. Is it Star Trek? No, it's not cheesy enough and has way too much action to cover the plot holes.

it's not as bad as the first Star Trek which had a terrible storyline

Good effects though.

Enterprise under water?
Pike dying?
Poor security around Starfleet HQ (ship attacks meeting of senior staff, ships fight in space, ship crashes on Earth, etc. )
etc

sorry chaps, can't understand how any one would give it more than a 6. i love trek but im not a trekky. it was just a bit of a sprawling mess of a film. felt like it had been re written loads and even changed during filming. i enjoyed it and ill watch it again. but it wasnt that great :)

Personal preference I guess!!

It's like Music & TV Programs, I probably Love Some that you don't and you the same with me!!

:)

I wonder how JJ will do the Borg!!!

Well at this rate he wont be doing it. his films are ridiculously expensive to make and this film has been considered as a flop on that point...yes it will probably make a profit in the end, just.

Talk is already out there that he wont direct the new one bc of star wars, and his studio only has the lease on ST till 2015 and at that point Paramount will do a bit of a clear out to make the films a little less risky budget wise.

That's what you get when Damon Lindelo(l)f is involved..

Saw it last night, it's an enjoyable film but not an enjoyable star trek film.

2009 set up the whole "they can be different thing" and then this one does the exact opposite (a bit) and just plays about with old star trek stories with little twists and lots of over the top action. I'll give it 7/10 on the basis it's a good action film but it lacked most of the subtly of actual star trek

Just saw it in IMAX in 3D and loved it.

I wouldnt call myself a Trek nerd, but I have seen all the movies and the series a good few times and I felt it did them justice.

Yes there were cheesy bits
Yes the plot was obvious
Yes the blonde was completely pointless

I still loved it, and it makes a nice change to be entertained from start to finish.

Seen it tonight...

Had to laugh at the end where they want to Beam Spock and Khan up to the ship with Chekov rambling on about not being able to beam them up because they're moving, didn't stop him in the first movie when they were freefalling into a dying planet.

Really didn't like the movie much at all, just seemed to be a generic sci fi movie with some obvious "cap doffing" to Wrath of Khan which imo was a far superior movie. The guy playing Khan imo just didn't suit the part, there was no real character or menace to him, which wasn't the case with Ricardo Montalban who came off as calm but calculating. That aside loads of plot holes, and no real surprises, even the Khan reveal was obvious after seeing him slapping the Klingons around.

At least the warp effect this time round had a little effort applied to it in terms of effects rather than the ship literally just vanishing.

Saw it tonight. It was a little predictable and there were a few plot holes. But overall I really enjoyed it.

Saw this in 2D with my brother a couple of weeks ago. Really enjoyed it, just as much as the first film.

As a few others have mentioned I also didn't once look at my watch to check the time (I usually grow restless at the cinema), I was totally glued from start to finish.

Loved every minute of it. The only thing I would criticize is the audio at the start of the film - I couldn't hear a single word anyone said; dialogue was drowned out by the loud music and sound effects! Once the crew left the planet the dialogue throughout the rest of the film was fine. Anyone else experience this?
