Anyone plays MWO still?

Yep, I grinded my way to getting a kickass atlas built, and I occasionally buy mc to get a weekend of premium to speed up the grinding. I did buy a jagermech outright with mc though because I got carried away. Twin ac20s are fun! But yeah, I still play it.

So you can actually grind your way to buying a mech without coughing anything up at all??

I've been playing (tag Robgmun) but don't feel like I've been earning anywhere near enough)

If you get into a heavy/assault you can. The amount you earn is based on what damage/capture points/etc you do in a match. Once you own your own mech you earn more too. I generally get between 140k-220k if my team wins. It's harder with lights because you can die very easily. I did grind my way all the way to 11m Cbills on just trial mechs and a rubbish commando I bought. After that it was all plain sailing. Love my atlas!

I'd save up and buy a Jenner to keep you going and then just grind away until you can afford a jagermech (weak armour, but lots of firepower). After that, you gotta get an atlas. It's worth waiting because otherwise you'll buy the wrong thing. My catapult, for instance, is rubbish. I should've got a different variant and put twin gauss or ppc on it.

Can i think i have over 10m Cbills but i don't know how to use them to buy a mech, or to convert them to MC's. Can you please tell me? I can'y find anything on the FAQ or forums!

At the moment i'm loving the JAGERMECH JM6-S, but the armour is very weak. So i have to hide behind other mechs and snipe from behind them. But if i had the cash i would sup-up a JAGERMECH to the max and that should give a heck of a punch!!

Dude if you have 10m cbills then you could afford an Atlas (get the D-DC model so you can put an EMC on it).

Go to the mechbay, select "owned mechs" from the tab on the left, and click "buy mech" button in the mech bay slot. Then find yourself the model you want and buy it (you can buy with MC or CB). After that you can customise it how you like, and best of all, as you earn exp for that mech you can upgrade its unique skills like turning speed, heat dissipation etc in the pilot tree.

You may have to ride around in the default loadout until you can afford bits for it (eg ferrofibrous armour, double heatsinks etc), but then at least you have your own baby to play with. THEN, you end up using MC to put camo on it and make it yours.

Jagermech is really fun. my twin AC20 has an XL engine in it so it's quickish (76kph), but it's a real glass canon (jump out and deal crazy damage and then run like hell)

Hey Devij, just been reading up on weapon layouts, wouldn't 4 x UAC5 be way better for the JAGERMECH? I know that afford an Atlas, but to be honest the JAGERMECH is calling my name. I didn't even have to play that many games to get to 10m! I can afford an Atlas a bit later.

Is this something that's free to play and relatively easy to get into??

I stumbled on this thread and had a look at a few Youtube videos of the gameplay and it looks spot on!

Fair enough! Technically, yes the Ultra AC5 offers better effective range and allows you to disorient players with a constant stream of lead, BUT they jam. And unjamming them is a PITA (you have to select and deselect each column in the row of the jammed ac5 while trying not to die). I may give it a go myself though! Essentially it'd be an ultra AC20 :D

The main reason I like the Atlas is that it's very user friendly, but the Jager is my second fav for sure. Keep in mind that putting an XL engine in (a risky move because your side torso getting blown kills you) costs 4m cbills just by itself.

It's FTP yes. In terms of easy to get into: I think so. The customisation of the mechs takes a fair bit of though before committing your hard earned cbills, but the gameplay is pretty straightforwards: damage is localised, so aiming for vulnerable spots or the most dangerous weapons on an enemy is rewarded, and thinking ahead is crucial or you'll be left trudging past a gun-line as they tear you apart. But yeah I enjoy it!

I'll be on tonight after 8 so anyone who fancies seeing the awesome power of my Fatlas is welcome to.

Ugh! I think i screwed up my JM :(

Tried a couplr of configerations but the most i can put on it is 2xAC10's and 2xAC2 along with a ML, Still along with slight stronger armour it should give me a fighting chance and i will keep playing until i have about 20m CBills and get a Altas

That's still pretty nifty. AC10 for up close, ac2 for range. I'm debating picking up a cicada. I don't have any mediums yet.
