Is a 770 a worthwhile upgrade for the money?

Another thing to keep in mind is resale value. I was looking at prices of the gtx570 2.5gb on the bay for a thread and they go for far higher prices than the 1.25 version. This is probably down to there not being many around and the obvious benefit's of people wanting to sli them without worrying about vram limitations.

Oops, didn't mean to cause any disquiet with AMD owners :o I'm just talking from personal experience really. I'm certainly not an Nvidia fanboy by any means. I'll usually go for whatever product is best value for my money rather than have any brand loyalty. Nvidia card always seem a little smoother to me too, when comparing a game at the same FPS.

I'm seeing a few decent deals on the Palit 770. Never owned a Palit card, anyone care to comment on the quality? Cooler any good?

That's a good point, an extra 30 odd quid now for double the vram might translate to a much higher resale price later on, as RealDeal says with the GTX 570 2.5GB..

I think the GTX 680 4GB's were £500ish pound.. 770 with higher clocks and 4GB for £380ish is good deal imho..

I think the only 2.5GB version available was the EVGA one, so if I'm not mistaken the warranty is tied to the card, rather than tied with original buyer like some other brands...so that could why it worth more as well.

770 has performance of 7950 (if both overclocked) and costs 50% more. It is a completely stupid buy. Why would you overpay 50%???

Most of the reviews I've seen have the 770 as slightly faster than the 7970 Ghz edition. It is a very similar price to the 7970 so it is not as vastly overpriced as the 780 / Titan.

And some people just prefer Nvidia cards ;)

@the op, dont buy a 770 or a 680. Basically the same thing. another nvidia bs refresh like gtx 280-285. Get a gtx 670 from the likes of gigabyte, it will probaby oc the same as a 680/770. Nvidia are taking the **** with this refresh. 4gb model and your sorted for a bit to come.

Will be upgrading from a 570 decisions decisions on either to get the 770 for a good little boost or wait till next year. I always upgrade every two generations but the leap this time doesn't seem worth it.

This is my problem too.

Reckon i'll just hold off on my monitor upgrade to 1440p until the next gen, then my 480 will tide me over just fine.

IMO...now that the GTX670 is now at £250 new, but be you could try finding some 2nd hand GTX670 at £200 or below?

Or wait for the GTX760Ti 2GB and pray that it would be cheaper than the GTX670's current price?
