Hi there.

Looking to unleash my wallet on a new HTPC build come Monday.
However I am looking to use the Streacom FC8 Evo as the case and it is very selective about which motherboards it will accept.

Would it be possible for anyone to confirm which Haswell m-ITX boards will fit the case.

Many thanks

Like most of the haswell m-itx boards that have shown up so far the CPU is in the top half of the board on that design. For the FC8 EVO the CPU has to be in the bottom half of the board. The FC5 is the opposite, requiring the CPU in the top half.

Thanks for the suggestion but so far FC8 EVO haswell compitiblity is looking pretty thin on the ground.

Looking like I might have to make it a FC5 EVO. Need a PCI-e riser card for that but they seem scarce as well.

Apologies, I have been hunting hi and low of a Z77 board to use in my older FC5.. Currently have an ASrock Z77e-itx, but the heatpipes dont fit nicely (have to use them the wrong way around) and as a consequence they block the PCI-e slot.

Looks like we have opposite issues!

I registered just to tell you this.

The Asrock Z87 itx board will NOT fit the FC5. The socket is too close to the side of the case by the slightest amount. The CMOS battery is also in the way.

The Asrock H87 itx board will fit. If you notice the socket is slightly further away and the CMOS battery is not vertical.

Sadly this board is missing the Display Port, Wireless, Better Audio and the mSATA plug on the back. The top heatpipes bracket that bolts to the side of the case also ends up in not the best position, but it looks okay.

I do not know of another mini itx board that works that is for Haswell. The GIGABYTE GA-Z87MX-D3H must work because a website is selling FC5 builds with this Z87 board installed. Intel BOXDH87RL should also work. The socket is nearly identical position with the Gigabyte and they are about the same price.

FC8 Evo Haswell compatibility

I am also looking to make a Haswell build using FC8 Evo case. I do not want to use FC5.

As already mentioned, it appears that the following motherboards are incompatible due to the CPU being in the top half of the board:

ASRock Z87E-ITX
ASUS Z87-ITX

I have been looking at all the Z87 ITX boards released so far, it appears this one is also incompatible for the same reason:

EVGA Z87 Stinger

However I have found two boards where the CPU is located in the bottom half of the board:

Gigabyte Z87N-WiFi
MSI Z87I

I would be very grateful if anyone could help me take a look at the layout of these two motherboards and confirm whether they would likely be compatible? I am particularly interested in the Gigabyte Z87N-WiFi as it is already in stock locally.
