Early bird or night owl?

I was a night owl until we had children; then I instantly transmuted into an early bird :D

I've stayed that way even though the children are older now - it makes commuting in on the bike much safer and more pleasant going early in the morning.

Very much early bird ... during the week I'm normally up at 5am and out of the house before 6am to go to work. On the weekend I have a lie in and don't get up until 7am :)

Means I get everything I need to do done first thing and have the rest of the day available to do what I want.

I much prefer getting up early and going for a bike ride or to the gym, however I find it difficult to actually get out of bed early on a weekend. My body is a natural night owl it seems; when I was off for summer whilst at college and school, I always ended up going to sleep about 6am and waking up at about 4pm.

Night owl.

Though having a son has turned me (forcefully) into an early bird too. Normally though I'm a stay up late chap.

I've traditionally been a night owl and when in education I found I typically performed better in afternoon exams (bucking the commonly held view that our minds are are better 'tuned' in the mornings). At work I find my brain starts to get going around 10-10:30 or thereabouts.

Essentially my problem has always been that days are the wrong length, 24hrs is too short and something around 26-27hrs would suit me better. I like to sleep for 8-9 hours but don't really get tired until I've been awake for ~18hrs (Unless I've been deprived of sleep previously or whateveR).

I'm tired all the time so it doesn't really matter what I do. I like waking up early as I feel like I have more time (the day seems to go slower), and I feel like I've accomplished something (how sad) but I enjoy staying up late (probably due to old habits and that I seem to get somewhat more creative at that time). They tend to conflict, though, leading to a period of late nights and late waking.

I've given up trying to sort it out and I'm learning to deal with the fact that I'll never not be half-asleep, ha.

Definitely a night owl. Always hated mornings since I'm always tired and on my days off I rarely if ever get up before 12. Guess I'm just a lazy git. :p I do find working at night the best time due to the lack of distraction. My Internet connection actually works at this time as well due to the lack of activity so that's a benefit.

I do feel the age of the Internet is the main cause of this though. Not that it's a bad thing.
