Do online shops have to refund your delivery fee

I would have thought it depends why you return it, if it was faulty, then I would guess they probably do have to refund you.

If you just returned it under Distance Selling Regulation because you didn't want it, then I'd guess they probably don't have to refund delivery.

They have to refund *your return* delivery fee if (and only if)

1) You return a faulty item (SOGA)
or
2) They didn't specify in their T&Cs that consumer pays return postage on DSR returns (DSR)

As amleto says. If you question was referring to original delivery costs to you, then the answer is always YES.

No! The answer is yes unless the t&c exclude dsr returns getting postage back and also not if you choose to opt for a quicker/non standard/premium del service

First time I was aware of this, must have missed it in the legislation, good to know since I am a business seller, not that I offer a service like that anyway! As for the first part, mine was talking about etailer -> customer.

I've always found that weird because regular shops don't have to compensate your travelling expenses and it must really hurt independents

The purpose of the DSR is effectively to bring the shop to you to give you the same right to look over the goods as you would have if you had went into the shop itself.

yea but we all know in the shop they would never let you do things people get away with under DSR

wife runs an online - and as above if faulty yes - if customer has changed their mind - no.

She did at one stage but people treated as a try and buy service for free with the company carrying the costs of the refunds

Bingo and this is the issue I have with the DSR.
I'm not a shop owner, but I can honestly feel for these retailers.
You could not go into a shop, hook a monitor up to your PC and start playing games for a couple of days before deciding no - you don't want the item.

DSR was always a good plan but once again in practice they have taken things too far.
