So I'm looking to get a new phone when my contract runs out on 2nd July :D
At the moment I've got a Galaxy Nexus which is a very good phone. I now want something more up to date and I like the Look of the HTC one.

Now we all know that EE 4G contracts are very over priced start around £44 mark which is a lot. Three mobile are getting 4G later this year according to this source http://www.store-3.co.uk/3-mobile-4g-network.html and will cost no extra. Does anyone else know when Three are doing this or even if this is true cause I don't want to be stuck on 3G for 2 years and then have to take out another contract to go over my 3G for 4G and then last even longer.

Cheers

Oh this is not for home as I have a great connection. This is for out and about as I would be leaving Orange (again) to join another carrier. Having 4G mean a lot to me as like I said this phone will need to last me 2 years.

Not sure when it is they are getting 4G. All I care about is that I won't need to get another contract or sign up to Voda which is the worst phone company in the world IMO.

I'm also thinking about upgrading my phone. Am I right in thinking that it is the i9505 and not the i9500 that will support 4g on the three network?

I'm not sure. Best asking Three about it. I'm probably going to do the same thing. So tempted to go to the shopping centre after work at just go get the HTC now. Only issue is that I would need to pay out my current contract and pay an admin fee. I could just wait 30 days till my contract runs out.

The S4 with the Qualcomm processor will support 4G on Three. I was of the understanding (though this was a while ago I read this), that the Exynos 5 was also LTE enabled, in which case if 1800Mhz and 800Mhz are enabled, then that will also support Three's 4G.

Three will roll out their network after the 4G allocation from EE takes place, which is September. So we're looking at some point in Q4 this year. As Three and EE collaborate with their networks (MBNL), I would hope Three's initial 4G network should be reasonably strong and as widespread as EE's. Don't know how the 800MHz will change that as IIRC EE doesn't have any low frequency allocation.

Most phones will support Three's 4G.

Their current 3G is v.very fast, so when their 4G arrives at the end of the year, i'd expect that to be like lightspeed! :D

& I cannot recommend the HTC enough!

guess depends where you are, at my location its like 1mb-4mb , mostly 1-2mb, while tmobile when its uncapped its 10-17mb

Will 4g increase signal quality on three does anyone know I'm having signal issues at some locations and it's really beginning to get annoying.

The iPhone 5 support Three's primary high-bandwidth 4G, 1800 MHz. It will not support the longer wavelength, lower frequency, 800 MHz, which will mainly be deployed to give additional range, so I'd imagine countryside deployment, or in very built up towns with tall buildings like London, as the longer wavelength resists interference better.

As for signal improvements, 4G should bring better traffic management at each mast site (can support more clients for example), and in theory better range/signal - though this depends how they lay out the network and the two frequencies.

Think it remains to be seen if they can truly offer 4G at no additional cost. Ultimately it has cost them money both on the fees and infrasturtcure to roll out 4G and if they go down this route ultimately their profits will fall and as a public company it goes against their main priority.

If the others follow EE though, Three stand to gain lots of customers, easily offsetting the costs and retaining or increasing profits.
