Okay so this is not for me directly but does affect me. It's for my partner.

She is currently with Wards Solicitors but after 3 months nothing has happened. Admittedly she is doing this via legal aid so understand it might well be pushed back to the pile.

Things from the divorce wanted is, the ex wants his name off the house/mortgage and £30,000 (yep £30K).

There are 3 kids involved and he has agreed to pay my partner directly on this to avoid CSA.

Have tried arranging a timed arrangement for when he has the kids but thus yet to of happened. This is pending

So I need the help and advice from the OCUK members that have done this....Google hasn't help much.

Worth doing one of these online divorces?

Change solicitor?

Anything else?

Thanks

As with everything conversation is key here. The two need to sit down like grown ups and talk things through.

Is half the equity in the house worth 30k? What joint bill/credit cards are there, who pays them?

All he want is name off and £30K that's it. House is worth £340K+. No other accounts, debts

How much of the mortgage have they paid off though. Surely the value of the house is irrelevant if they have only paid off say 50k of it. 30k might well be more than 1/2 the equity in the house...

Edit: Stepchild, ginger, beaten, etc.

I found when I got divorced that initially my solicitors dragged their feet in the hope that things could be worked out, but it was well past that stage by then. Best be patient and see how it pans out, personally I think he is stupid for only asking for £30k
