Hi all, i'm in Belfast (Alfred street premier inn) for 1 night this week and wondered if anyone knows anything worth a browse in the area in the evening?

Also looking for somewhere good to eat with a healthy works budget of £25 :D

Any ideas would be great :)

There's always the Titanic Quarter if that interests you? I cant really think of anything else that distinguishes Belfast from any other city apart from that to be honest...

Food wise there are plenty of your chain style restaurants in Victoria Square which are close and should fall within your budget e.g Wagamama, Nandos, TGI, Spur Steakhouse, Chiquitos, China King Buffet etc. If you are still around at lunchtime tomorrow get yourself over to Boojum for an awesome burrito, there is one on Botanic Avenue and one on Chichister Street (closer to you, around the side of Victoria Square shopping centre) there will be a queue out the door but it moves very quickly, will cost you about £6 including a drink, in exchange for a burrito the size of a small baby.

Scalini (Botanic Ave) and Villa Italia (University Rd) are decent Italian restaurants, should be able to get a couple of courses for within your budget. Again struggling to think here, but if I get any ideas i'll come back.

Edit - Oh yes Tao Noodle Bar (Shaftsbury Square) is great for not your average chinese cuisine, they also have a menu specifically for the local chinese population which you can ask for with some more "true to home" meals on there. Its will easily feed you for £25, it looks more like a small cafe than a restaurant and is not usually busy in the evenings but dont let that put you off, its great.

I'll second the titanic quarter but there is not much to see in the evening as its mostly a industrial unit now. instead take a walk about the Catherdral quarter its a very nice area with lots of great restaurants and pubs and is really nice this time of year with the bars opening the gardens and people just milling about happy to chat and have a drink. It's only 10 min on foot from your hotel or 5 min in a taxi. I would recommend Nick's Warehouse or Hill St Brasserie if your going there to eat and then Duke of York for a few drinks after.

My favourite place to eat in Belfast is the bar and grill at James St South its only round the corner from your hotel but its not as a nice a area once your done compared to the cathedral quarter.

I do enjoy a meal from Benedict's in Bradbury Place.
Restaurant is upstairs, pub downstairs.
Go in, head up on your right, they serve a range of everything and iirc have 'beat the clock' during the weekdays, where you pay the time for certain meals on the menu if ordered before either 6.00 or 6.30. Meals are worth their value, have never had bad food in there.

If you are looking for Chinese food, walk on up through Shaftsbury square to the bottom of Botanic Avenue and go into Lee Garden, order their dim sun menu. Nice variety of food there. If you want Japanese continue up Botanic to Sakura, have a decent Sushi Bar, but you can order anything you like form the menu.

Nicks Warehouse is great, but I would have thought you would struggle for £25?

Doh missed that bit, I was just thinking where is good to eat around the cathedral qtr. For less than £25 there is a new Italian place called Coppi in St Annes Square beside the MAC, I was there last week I think it was about £20 for 2 courses and a drink. There is also "Made in Belfast" that's always a good feed and should be in budget.

Deanes Seafood, in the city, is rather good and not overly expensive if fish is your fancy. The thai curry prawns as a starter are exceptional if they still do them. Otherwise, I'd go to The Barking Dog on Malone Road (5 mins from the city). They always have an excellent menu, not too fussy but not pub grub either. Their Barking Brew is too drinkable IMO, had many a civilised meal there marred by unexpected hangovers :D

e: as to what to see in Belfast, any road, port or airport leading out of it :D
