I work for a company as a Senior Network Engineer, within an IT department of 4 people.

The company is about to outsource a project to overhaul their website. As a Secondary Job, I do Web Design and to keep this as short as possible I can undercut the quotes by a long shot.

In my Job Description of my contract as-well as my day to day stuff, it includes 'other duties as required'.

If I were to put myself forward as able to undertake the project, could they make me do it through the above statement in my contract? Even though I wouldn't have time in my normal day to do it and would need to do it outside of business hours.

Advice please GD :)

Probably better off asking your boss than random people on GD ;)

If your secondary line of work was as an exotic dancer, could you boss install a pole and make you give him lap dances? That's also a good question.

Ask them dude, say you would be able to do whatever they need without sourcing elsewhere, yet you either would want time to do it in your current work day, overtime or at least a couple of holiday days extra or something.

In my experience, if they are willing to pay someone for services and you do the same job for free, you barely even get a thanks.

Also if they try and say it's part of your contract, do a crap job. You are a SNE not a Web designer ;)
