Just seen this has been announced by Samsung.

Does anyone know how this compares to the other Galaxy phones such as the S2, S3 and the S4? I'm aware the S3 mini was no where near as powerful as the full fat S3.

The Mrs has a plain old Galaxy S and she's been put off with any of the newer S's as they've been pretty big so if the S4 represents a decent power jump I'll get her to get that!

Definitely better effort than the GS 3 mini, that was a a joke of a phone.

Still could/should have been a lot better though and screen res. should have been 720P res., qHD is dated these days.

All comes down to price as usual, needs to be no more than £300 but since it is Samsung and has the galaxy s4 name on it, chances are it will be be £380+, which makes it a completely pointless device then.

I'm afraid although it's decent, people will see one, say what's that?. And then proceed to move away from you as your a tight wad for picking a cheap version of its bigger and superior brother. Labelling it as a S4 is just so Korean.

Women and kids will appreciate it, trouble is if it's not a considerable amount cheaper size is the only factor especially in the contract market as even £5 p/m is negligible to most but represents £120 over 24m.

Not trying to troll, but since they filled the normal S4 with so much bloatware, will this have much space left of its 8gb or is that after the bloatware?

its way too expensive tbh, it is a much better effort but for £389 its not much cheaper then the S4 where you get a screen that is 2 years better, double the ram, much better SoC, more storage, bigger battery, more s-crap.

I know a smaller device is better for some but it need to be cheaper or have better internals.

The Xperia SP is a better choice to be honest (for this generation of phones), quick look shows it's about £300. A bit big for a mid range phone but it still has a powerful SoC (dual krait + adreno 320) inside with a 720p screen.

^ Totally different category. The Xperia SP is a poormans flagship (150g) and the S4 mini is hopefully a small flagship/iPhone competitor (100g) :)
The Xperia L is Sonys smaller 4.3" phone, which is rather droll at best. Actually Sonys current lineup looks utter balls to me. The large one is OK, can't remember what it's called?? X something? Meh.

Anyway the S4 mini has a 4.3" version of the Note 2 display, that means 3 sub pixels and will be miles better than a cheap 720p screen from Sony

This looks like a cracking phone tbh, shame about bloated touchwiz. In an ideal world they'd sell it with stock Android, what are the chances of that happening?
