I've got a problem with my setup; suddenly everytime I boot I'm getting CPU fan error press F1 to enter setup. In BIOS i see the CPU temp is up at 7deg (or higher) and the CPU fan RPM is not registering at all. After say 30secs the machine switches itself off.

The mobo is an Asus P9X79 Pro. The cooler is a Corsair Hydro H80.

Can anyone help me determine whether its the mobo or the cooler that is the problem?

Thanks!

does the cooler/pump soundlike its running? if the pump fails the cpu will overheat and shutdown to protect itself, anychance you have the stock intel cooler to test with?

indeed, no stock cooler to test with.

it's hard to tell if the pump is running since other fans onthe GPU make some noise. it is lit up as if it were working, but i cant hear anything above the noise of other components even with my ear next to it.

im going to vote for the cooler being busted.

The 2011 chips don`t come with a stock cooler.:)

lol ok,shows how much I know:(

it wouldn't surprise me with an all in one cooler, any vibration from the pump if you touch it?

doesnt seem to be much vibration either, maybe a tiny bit, but it vibrates slightly even with no power with other stuff going on in the case.

anyone want to recommend a replacement?
