I was hoping that AMD would either announce a new set of cards to be released soon (ish) at computex or they would announce price cuts on the existing range or Tahiti cards and lower. I've not heard anything yet though. :(

Discuss.

Isnt it tomorrow their press event?

I don't know, is it?

If so...

Hopefully we get some info on HD 8000 / HD 9000 or whatever they call it series. Interested in seeing what they bring out to compete with GTX 780 / Titan.

I thought they announced that the HD 8000 series was a "vendor refresh" or something along those lines? Basically, it's an NV style repackaging of an old product. The 9000 series is supposed to be following in "2013", which I assume means late 2013 as NV are releasing the 800 series in late 2013/early 2014.

Either way, being due a graphics card (a Christmas/Birthday combo present) and being annoyed with NV's pricing I was looking to jump to AMD, so they need to hurry up with the 9000 series...unless of course they pull an NVIDIA, and if that's the case I get the new XBOX.

AMD don't do new product announcements, or if they do its just hours before release.

They just leave everyone guessing and speculating on scraps of information that they never confirm or deny is real.

So whatever is coming, if anything, the first we will know about it for sure is when Gibbo makes a new product release thread.

There has been good evidence that Richland was immanent for weeks now, nothing from AMD about it and suddenly its on the shelves, and still not a single review on it.

There is now good evidence of a 5Ghz FX-9000 CPU about it hit the market in a week or two, again AMD are completely silent on the subject.

AMD seems to be moving into a new phase of Uber silence, it seems they didn't even give reviewers any Richland chips.

i would wait for the price come down a bit as newer versions are launched. the difference between the new ones coming and existing would be mediocre as they are likely to be incrementally updated versions.
