Anyone gone from a PC to iMac then back to a PC?

Well yes, if you are used to your overclocking and tinkering then stay away from Apple in general.

Yup, and me. As long as the trackpad is that much better than any one a Windows machine, and it has full screen app swiping, I won't be moving away from the MBP.
 
PC > IMAC > PC > IMAC > Ordered the new Imac but was messed around with delivery dates, so I cancelled > PC.

Love the design of iMacs but to be honest there not even close to the power of a PC.
 
PC -> Macbook Pro -> PC here. Apple laptop hardware is fantastic, but OSX is pants IMO.
Saying that, If I needed a laptop again a 13" Retina would be very near the top of the list, dat build quality.
 
I've jumped between both for a while, was a Mac engineer for a couple of years too but back on PCs (Windows and Linux) mostly these days, I do have 4 Apple devices in the house though, but no laptop/desktop now.

Like Mac OSX, Linux and Windows to be fair, none of them are particularly poor for home users, all have a benefit here and there but as I tend to game at home or work on my pen testing skills so Linux and Windows win out, for now as the business I work in has very, very few macs (under 0.5%).
 
Did it - big mistake. I'd still always consider their laptops though due to the build quality, displays and not needing one for games.
 
I've moved from PC > rMBP (which I have just sold) back to PC again.

However, as is impressive as the build quality is on the device, OSX is just plan rubbish IMO!!

That actually works better (due to Apple having control over hardware and software) to boot.

Probably referring to the ability to overclock the hardware.

I'm the opposite. Whenever I use Windows (and I have to because of my day job) I find it frustrating. I have to install an SSH client because it doesn't have one built in, for example. I don't have the ability to call upon the underlying UNIX subsystem in Windows. It's like computing with one hand tied behind my back.

And when I'm not in power user mode (I.e I'm writing or editing videos) I find OS X gets out of my way. Windows doesn't. Also, and I'm not trying to incite hatred, writing and video editing tools are much better on OS X.

- Never had problems with device drivers but other than an Arduino I don't use anything obscure. No problems with programs, in fact the other way round, I use quite a few program's that aren't on Windows/Linux.
- Agreed. A lot of Microsoft program's aren't good on OS X.
- Only work well with IE? It's the 21st century, damn it! :D
- Not seen that bad boy in quite some time, since Lion/Mountain Goat.

Yeah the keyboards and mice are still white for the iMac. Just need clean hands when using them! :)
 
I did back in the late 1990s with Mac OS 9 because that was how my uni degree was planned. Shortly after, I got myself a job in 1st-line support where I supported both PCs and Macs with OS X.
 
In a professional capacity yes... went from Windows 7 to an iMac and then to Windows 8.

Loved the screen on the iMac but Mac OS just wasn't for me, too fiddly and unintuitive as well as weirdly unreliable in a way that Windows just wasn't. Obviously some people love em, so it's all horses for courses. Going back to Windows was ace though, once I'd installed Start8 to turn off all the unnecessary W8 garbage :D

Meh.. nah I work with XP/7/OSX every day.

The best thing about both is they just work especially with the right hardware. :)

Macbook Air, iPad Mini, iPhone 5 is all you ever need, then a console if you do gaming. If anyone owns multiple apple products they will tell you how slick iCloud really is. Push/Pull data is fantastic. Really does just work.

Apart from when it doesn't which it has a couple of times for me and just randomly deleted my calendar, also I have had that wonderful feeling trying to sync my iPhone to a new system and it decides, I know what you want, wipe everything, that's exactly what I should do. Also have the problem where it has decided that I don't want to download those apps, I will just lock them up so they cant be removed, opened or updated until you restore your phone next.

Maybe I wronged apple in a previous life, maybe the grass is always greener, but I have an awful lot of bad luck with Apple products that I never really had elsewhere. Also I just don't think I will ever get on with the gated community that apple wants everyone to live in.
