Virgin Media Discussion Thread

There is some black backing covering that hole. Hold on may a s well tear it off and look.

Ok my mistake. You have to tear off a small tab and it's under that.

Wireless speed test mobile I get Ping 18ms...Download 69313kbps and upload is 10414 kbps

Would you guys go for the deal I said above? Nothing else in my area is actually good or available and I don't think BT has any plans to roll out Infinity at any point soon. Wondering if there is possibly anything else available.

I'll be using the new hub in modem only mode with my RT-N56U however changing the brightness on the LEDs is a rather major thing due to it being in my bedroom.

What's the total monthly cost ?

Think it's about £26ish for the first 6 months and £28ish for the last six. Not to sure though.

I know it was £31.20 for a Superhub 2, and double speed for a year. Free installation too.

Is that Broadband only mate ? if so I guess its not bad as its basically the current broadband only offer, (£1 per month cheaper on the website)

If that includes phone I asked for the offer on the website, I managed to get 120mbit, Talk Unlimited, caller display etc for £43 per month, paid the line rental up front so the cost is down to £38 per month.

See if you can get a similar offer on the 60mbit.

Just got my SH2 up and running. First there is no usb port? I can't ssh\telnet in to it.
All the menus look the same I'm just trying wireless 2.4@300mpbs as that would to work on the SH1.

Edit=the wires 2.4 is much better I haven't got anything 5ghz to try out.

USB Not active yet !
No plans just yet to activate it, we are told.

I just phoned back Virgin Media as I didn't get a call back from them as promised and have been told both the Superhub 2 and 60meg are not available in my area at this time...

Strange considering I was on 120meg a month ago...

Really getting sick of this useless company.

Never mind, spoke to an English guy on Customer Services and got the deal, upgrade to 60meg from 30meg for £3.85 extra a month but with £2.50 knocked off the first 6 months. Free installation and the New Super Hub.

All for an extra £31.20ish a year.

EDIT: Broadband only.

It seems like you have to speak to multiple people before getting through to someone who has any idea what they're doing.

When I got patched through to the tech support team the other day after complaining about my wireless range (trying to get a SH2), the guy got really angry with me because I kept suggesting that the SH2 would help in my case. I have a one bedroom flat and can only get a decent wifi signal in the room containing the hub (the connection to the hub drops to 13mbs when you leave the room). He kept insisting that it was a problem with my flat and not the SH1. it even says on the website "Even better range" on the SH2.

The whole experience left a very bitter taste in my mouth. Thankfully the actual service I get is generally quite good.

Right my yearly line rental is not up with bt so i can move.

Is there any way i can find out how congested my area is before signing up?

I have searched virgin media forums etc and only found a couple of reports of slow speeds dating back to 2010, and no recent ones.

Is it safe to assume there will be little congestion?

I should be getting mine tomorrow so I will look. I will also try to SHH\Telnet into it.

No buddy - its something we have been requesting in the beta trials and under discussion.
Thanks guys.

That's why I was trying(still am) to telnet ect in to the hub so I can turn it on. But so far no luck.

Is there any USB support in the firmware? If not, then I doubt you can just "turn it on" and expect it to do anything. You'd have to modify the firmware no?

just got off the phone to VM took me 3 phone calls to get some 1 to upgrade SH1 to SH2 for free.. despite being a customer for 12 year and on the highest package.... its getting installed on the 17th.

Anyone know how accurate the Superhub is in terms of traffic levels? Just logged into my Superhub to check the wireless settings and saw this:

I'm pretty sure that's wrong. Works out at 43GB a day!!!??? I'm the only one in the house who has the HDD capacity to download anywhere near that amount and it's not me. My house mates both have Laptops with HDD no bigger than 500GB. Pretty damn sure no one is packing a NAS. I've looked on the connected devices and nothing unexpected shows up. Confused. Firmware bug?
