Hi

I'm wondering what the best upgrade is from 470Sli. I've got a X58 platform with a i7 920 @4400hz....

Ideally I would like a minimum 25%-30% increase in FPS etc.

7970 GHZ or 770 GTX for a single card. Might not quite be a 25 % increase though. SHould imagine at least 15-20% faster though.

Wait till the next generation of GPU's come out.

Nothing really worth upgrading to at the moment, from SLI 470 under water.

I would consider "Next gen" to be the first set of cards on a new production process - next would be 20nm.

There is usually little point going for the refreshed version of the same process, as Nvidia/AMD can't improve the performance very much.

Despite this they will be the priced the same for very little performance gain - so its best to buy when the new process comes out.

I'm looking for a single card. Will having only PCIe (gen 1) on the motherboard be a limiting factor on bandwidth/performance?

My mistake I thought it had PCIe 1.0.... Must have read the manual wrong. So it would be OK to run any of the latest graphics cards then?

Thinking I could maybe sell my EVGA 470 FTW Aquas for £200-£300 for the pair so I would be looking to spend around the £500-£550 mark.....
