I can't think of a worse thing to buy an ex police example of than a TDCi Mondeo but ignoring the fact it's an ex police TDCi, it looks like a great car. I wonder if the vibration is DMF related?

Being ex police, it will have been serviced correctly with no regard to cost and more than likely to have spent its life being driven by properly trained drivers. Yes, a old TDCi Mondeo would be a bit of a liability from Bobs backstreet motors or some stereotypical "innit bruv" private seller, but on the face of it, especially given its had the clutch & flywheel done, that ex Police example could well be a good buy (depending on what it cost).

I would suspect injector(s) for the vibration issue given the DMF has been replaced.

It'll still probably have been driven hard from cold etc, no? I doubt they're properly trained in mechanical sympathy :p

Looking at how these cars get treated on various police TV shows, I wouldn't touch one with a barge pole.

Well, it's certainly going to have been serviced properly, if the Police garage unit I used to deliver to is anything to go by, as for the drivers, it's a bit of a lottery although the BTP don't generally use their cars like a regular Panda car is used and abused day in, day out.

I'd wager it's not as bad as you may fear a regular ex Police car may be.

How much was it OP?

It sounds more like a worn engine or gearbox mount, which, given the cars history is probably highly likely. Lots of 1st / 2nd driving. IIRC this was fairly common these

See quite a few around my kneck of the woods. It is just a square car to me! I am allowed an opinion even if i am outnumbered. Sorry

Yes you're allowed an opinion but you've said exactly the same thing 3 times. Not exactly contributing much to the thread are you? :p

I've never seen an OAP behind the wheel of an ST.

I have to agree with the constant poster. It's pretty ordinary.

I don't get the appeal of the petrol ST Mondeo either. It's slow and has a big old lump at the front driven by the front wheels?

Each to their own, good luck with it OP.

Well it doesn't appeal to me or excite me but then I don't s'pose my LPG Focus excites or appeals to anybody else either. :p Does look a big old bus in that pic though.

6.8s to 60mph and 155mph top speed is slow? Oh right

Overtake you on my lawn mower mate!

Some people need to get a clue tbh.

Lets think... sub 7 second to 60, great chassi, fun dynamics, can still carry 5 people and a boot full

And on the subjective side, I think in blue it's a good looking car.

Yea, sucks.
