So, I ordered from overclockers and they kept changing my order as items were out of stock.. fair enough. Me being a newb to building computers I let him change the components but carries on asking questions.. basically I've gone for the AMD A10 APU and have no extra GPU.. the guy changed my motherboard to one with no hdmi or pci-express serial ports on it!! I have built the pc it runs sweet but now have realised I have no way of plugging it into a screen!! Yes, I know I'm stupid..

The moniter I wanted to use has the PCI serial blue connector on the back, what I'm asking is, is there any way of me connecting up something which will enable me to use the damn pc! :/ Or am I best getting a gpu with hdmi built on it.. Can I buy a cheap £40 one and just use it for the hdmi usage? Thanks guys!!!

Something like this?..
removed cuz pcworldz

Would that override the onboard graphics? Or can I just solely use it for the fact it has hdmi and blue vga ports?

What APU did you get and what motherboard did he change it to?

Sorry ill remove link now.. and this mobo..

whereas I had originally (with the help from people off the forum) ordered this..

Really pee'd off with the guys at OC cause I told him I wasnt clued up so asked him to make sure he was putting equivalent motherboard on!!! fgs

From what I can see, that motherboard doesn't have VGA, HDMI, or DVI, so, unless I'm mistaken, you might need a new motherboard, or a new GPU, and if you get a new GPU, unless you crossfire it with the APU, you are pretty much skipping the point of the APU, what APU did you get?

I might very well be mistaken, but from what I can see, you may need a 2nd GPU, or a new motherboard. If you want to crossfire with the APU, I would wait for more peoples input tomorrow, since I don't know anything about crossfire /w an APU

WOW I KNEW IT! I AM SO DISAPPOINTED IN OVERCLOCKERS!! Guy on the phone said I will be fine with that mobo and that it was a 'BETTER' one!! Looks like Ill have to ring them up tomorrow and see what they say.. wow expected for them to look after me better than this!

And for what it matters I got the A10-6800k

Uh-oh OcUK...

Well i'm sure things will get sorted out swiftly because thats certainly not like them.

If you want a new Motherboard, you could go for this:-
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-220-MS&groupid=701&catid=1903&subcat=2399

That motherboard has 1xDVI, 1xVGA, 1xHDMI, 1x Display port so you can choose which one you want to use, from what I understand you need HDMI right?

Or, if you want to crossfire which will give you a lot better performance, you could order this:-

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-077-HS&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1699

That gives you 1 HDMI and 1 Dual Link DVI, So you will have the HDMI if you can use it like that, but I know nothing about Crossfire with APU, I would wait for someone who knows more about it to educate you further on what you should do in regards to getting a new motherboard or going for the Crossfire option.

EDIT: I have heard rumours on another website of the 6800k APU not being able to Crossfire with the 7750, and only the 6670 instead, but I would just wait for someone elses input or you could call OCUK tomorrow and ask them.

Just so annoyed cause it has literally took me over 6 hours to build this today being it my first!! and now Im gonna have to take it all apart and start fresh just cause some guy doesnt know what hes doing when replacing parts for me! Cheers though leighton youre a big help! maybe they should employ you lol! Dont know what to do now cause having this computer literally was my MAX budget.. I may aswell go for a new motherboard? But that is going to be a PAIN isnt it? to change it all over :(

And chree, if it's possible and you can stretch your budget, you could crossfire, I would check with someone else about this too see if it's possible but it would increase the performance a lot and would be awesome for you to crossfire, but that is if you can have the display out of the GPU, I would ask OCUK or another forum member on the details of this.

Hmm I will have to have a look :/ I suppose crossfiring would also save time and taking apart the current build? How does it work though? Do you need to change something in the settings on the pc for crossfire or? Yeah Ill have to do some more research!

To be honest, I have no idea. I have heard that you can crossfire by putting a graphics card in with an APU, and it increases performance, and it would save you time, but you will need to find out if your computer would be ok for it, and you would need to find out the rest of the facts, you will need to see if you can use the GPU as the video output, and see if the sound can come through it. Hopefully someone on the forums can fill you in :-)

yeah Ill do some research and its the A10-5800K ive got lol not what I said earlier.. How much extra do you think I would be looking to do all this crossfiring etc and get a good new gpu that will make it worth while as cheap as possible though? lol

Ahh in that case then you could use this:-
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-257-AS

But make sure you can actually use it and it will actually work, call OCUK or get another person to look at this, please make sure you check as I only think this will work, I really have not much idea about xfire, and I think you only need to insert the card and maybe do something in the PC, maybe.

EDIT: I don't know if you will be able to use the GPU for the video output and audio output via HDMI with Crossfire with an APU, please research this also.

Can you even crossfire with the APU on a board which doesn't support use of the APU as the primary graphics processor? Because they were probably designed for the new design Athlon chips (Llano/Trinity with no functional GPU)
