Hi all,

I'm planning to ditch my current 2.13 Intel dual core 6400 & put together a Haswell machine by the end of the year, mostly for gaming (Eve/RPG & just a little fps), I'm wondering if there are any changes to the hardware coming this year which I should wait for.

Obviously Haswell has just arrived, so very arguably might drop in price in a few months. Then I've read there's an update to Windows 8 returning the Start button, in about a month's time? Plus, I think there are some new graphics cards coming?

If you were buying this year, what month would you buy in?

I would keep an eye on the weekly deals ocuk do, can pick up some parts quite cheap there. For a specific month it would prob be December for me, xmas deals and all but i would go with July / August. Initial price premium will have gone for haswell and gtx 700's and perhaps some summer deals

when you have some money spare, thats the best time, apart from that there isn't a good time, as there's always something newer coming out and the week you buy the prices always are cheaper the week after, thats life :)

Prices don't always go drop when Ivybridge was released to the world DDR3 was at bargain bucket prices but is now working its way back up as are SSD's then the chip its self was only about £160 now its closer to £200.......

Ivy was cheaper on release than it is even now so don't expect prices on Intel chips to go down

And as said before
DDR3 has shot up in price in the last 8-12 months over doubled in a lot of cases
