Hey folks. At this moment I have the Intel Core 2 Q9550 Yorkfield 2.83. With 4GB of Ram. Standing beside that is the 9600GT SLI and. supporting everything above is the ASUS P5N-D. And last but not least is a Xonar Essence STX, to which I will be keeping for the next set-up.

I just want to say before I move on, that the Q9550 along with everything else that I have mentioned has been serving me justice. Not bad for a system that has more Or less constantly on for close on, for 4 years. Not once, have I ever had any type of trouble with it. Nothing major anyway *Two thumbs up*

Coming with a sweet 24 months collect and return warranty I think my mind is made up, on that front. With peace and mind and all. I'd be siding more towards a Pre-OC bundle, that comes packed with a motherboard/cooler/ram
and of course the processor. And with reading a little bit about the 4th Gen. I think that'll be the way forward. In relations of gaming etc. Either the, Quasar 260i/ 265i Or the 270i? What do you guys think?
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productlist.php?groupid=43&catid=2512&subid=2604

Here is the part where you guys come in, with all of your expertise. I am wanting a rig for £1200/1300 that I will be buying from OC'ers in the few short weeks ahead, possibly sooner. Including an operating system. Seeing that I'm getting back into PC gaming with heavy demands. Also a tower. I know there
is no such thing as the "The Best" But a case that contains plenty of satisfactory where air-flow is concerned. Also one that is quiet, if possibly. I was recently looking at the Cooler Master HAF X

I've decided not to choose "SLI" But to lean more towards one card alone that can dish out the necessity of the months ahead, for the likes of Crysis 3/The Witcher 2/FarCry 3/ Flight Sim, etc etc on the highest graphically settings.

A Harddrive with no less then 2TB

And a PSU. I was thinking of one of the XFX's?

And an optical drive.

Cheers guys.

Do the overclock yourself bud, it's not difficult at all. There will probably come a time when the OC will need to be tweaked to keep the rig stable (especially if you add more RAM for example) so it makes sense to know how to do it yourself. You still get a good warranty with the parts anyways.

That gives you an idea. I included an IPS panel too, not sure if you needed a screen aswell but if you don't have a 1080P panel it might be nice to upgrade.

Thanks, Hono. I won't be needing a monitor because I will be using the one that I have right now, it's only 4 months old. On all honesty I've never OC'ed before, so I'm a little dubious lol I definitely want a Alpenfohn K2 Mount Doom, just to add

Reworked the spec. Much better mobo, as it is SLI/Xfire capable might as well get a PSU to cover the option. The RAM is nice and fast for a good price but isn't low profile, if you wanted to add more it might well not fit under the mount doom.

Can rework the spec to get a decent CLC cooler in which removes the worry of RAM height........

Another "trick of the trade". Is to use the Windows 8 Enterprise (evaluation) Edition for free on a 3 month trial. You can give it a go and maybe even see if windows 8.1 improves things (that should get a free preview too), it will add the Start menu back if nothing else ;) That gives you £80 extra to play with now and worry about purchasing the OS that is right for you later in the year :)

If possible..I would like to use all air. From the top of your head is there any other cooler that I could use. Maybe the Noctua NH-D14? Or..I'm I digging myself in deeper? lol Would that be bigger again, compared to the K2 Mount Doom? Everything else looks pretty amazing :D

The D14 and K2 are very similar performance wise and size wise. I think the d14 just edges performance but it is minimal.. Both are stunning coolers.

if possible you need to have in a room with plenty of air because that thing is going to breathe like crazy.

That's fair dos mate The Mount Doom is a beast! I just like to cover the options, as I said my only concern is that Teamgroup RAM wont fit under that cooler if you wanted to add more. It was a good price for the speed and did colour code to the mobo but as I've shown the specs can be tweaked.....

I've decided to choose the Noctua NH-D14 over the, K2 Mount Doom for when I purchase the whole set-up in about 2 weeks time. The case above, (Antec P280) would that be able to home the D14? Or would a bigger case be more appropriate?

On the subject of RAM. The Avexir Core Blue Series, is that going to sit comfortably under the D-14? I also have a Xonar Essence STX sound card to add on to that board as well, along with the GTX 770

Appreciate it dude

The Antec P280 has sound proofing which is why I suggested it as you wanted the rig to be quiet. Is a cracking case really and yes the D14 will fit, anything upto 170mm tall will fit fine. I prefer the looks of the Mount Doom but to each their own fella.

The Avexir RAM should fit fine, can't see it being any taller than the Patriot Mamba RAM and that fits under the Mount Doom ok. If you aren't buying for a couple of weeks then the spec isn't set in stone. Make sure you post back nearer the time so we can make the most of the offers for you :)

The NH-D14 is a great piece of kit, easy to install, and it's a bit more lenient towards tall memory. Use the fan speed reducer (7V) for around 4.3/4.4GHz overclock, that should do fine.

I like the P280. For the price, I'd still go with a Fractal R4, but it's not stocked on OcUK.

Not many suggestions otherwise tbh. I like the Gigabyte Ultra Durable motherboards, I would also pick up a 770, probably the Asus, the DirectCU cooler is great. Gainward Phantom maybe. With single GPU, a 550W PSU will do fine, like a Enermax Triathlor, or a Seasonic.

For SSD, a 128GB is plenty of space for OS and programs. I'm still at 1/2 capacity on my M4. Maybe spend some money towards faster RAM, nothing too fancy. Or a windowed side panel for the R4.

I was reading an article in regards of the 770 last night, stating the the 770 is more Or less the 680 in disguise, what do you guys think?

I've never had a Gigabyte board, before. When I have always bought a new board it's always been Asus along with there other products, so I'm looking forward to seeing what they are like in the long run. Saying that I have never OC'ed before, so this should be interesting lol

The D14 is a must I think, I agree with Hona that the Mount Doom does looks better, but performance wise, from what I have seen on Youtube the D14 edges it

I have to admit the more I look at the TITAN range, the more tempted I am lol I couldn't see myself paying over £800 for a video card. Uh no..Well... I'm lying to myself really..I could see myself purchasing one lol From seeing the specs of those cards, they can really slide through into anything, such an amazing card.

What RAM would you recommend? the danger factor, of the RAM actually not fitting with the cooler has made me a little cautious. The Avexir Core Blue Series 2400 did get a pretty good review in comparison to other brands. Also if I did get four sticks, once again ,do you think I would have any trouble fitting it under the D14?

Thanks again guys

No worries La

That's a respectable budget, I'm surprised you haven't had suggestions from others to be honest. You can watch this to help you get an understanding of overclocking while you wait......

That's great, thanks again dude..That'll be a good watch for later

If you watch that overclocking guide then watch TTLs other videos on the channel. He has reviewed the 770 and explains how it is a beefed up 680. The 780 is stupidly close to the Titan for a lot less cash, he has videos of them going head to head.

The Avexir RAM I wouldn't be concerned about. The Teamgroup or Corsair Vengeance with their agressive heatspreaders are far more worrying to be fair.

Pretty much, with faster RAM. But since the cost is roughly similar, I'd still go 770.

TITAN is OTT. A complete waste of money as far as I'm concerned. I'd rather spend the money on a 3930K or some kick ass 4770K system.

Best memory IMO is Mushkin. But frankly, finding memory is easy these days. I would probably pick up either a higher frequency memory, or some Samsung Green, just for the hell of it.
