Yeah it's the fizik performance stuff I've got. The problem is that apart from it being super thick, it's got a very defined pattern on it. It's got a flattish perforated bit about a third of the way across, then a raised bump bit, then a flat fizik logoed bit. That means you don't really have much leeway to vary the overlap. Also because of the thickness it likes to go baggy on the top edge as you tighten the bottom edge.

Don't be afraid to pull it quite tight as you're wrapping, that tends to make life easier.

If anyone is planning to buy some Rapha soon I can recommend you as a friend, you get 10% off and if you spend over $150 then I get 10% off my next order too.

My mech hanger arrived!

Just setting it up now, hopefully I don't make a mess of it..

ETA: Well i'm getting confused by this. Can't seem to set b-tension without the jockey wheels touching the biggest cassette cog!

Only managed to push just under 60km, a fair bit shorter than my 50miles aim for today. I will try again next week! http://app.strava.com/activities/58961038

Felt really hungry though, should have stopped for some food half way but kept going and going with lemon and lime flavoured water. Did a little more climb that my usual run, slowly getting more confident to try Spittal Hardwick Lane climb rather than drop :p

First serious ride following yesterday's bike fit. 38 miles and 2,500 feet. Somewhere between the bike fit and having a fast guy with us to pull us all along, I had an absolutely storming ride. Loads of Strava achievements, and made it up some hills a lot better than I've done before. I was worried I'd struggle, as I've ridden a fair bit this week and this is the fourth day in a row, so I was genuinely surprised to fare to well.

My body felt alright. As the bike fit guy said yesterday I could feel it in my abs, and my legs felt a bit different. The good news is my knees didn't feel bad. I was aware of them, insofar as they've been sore lately, but they didn't feel pinched in the same way they have done before. Fingers crossed it stays that way.

I guess £110 seems like a lot for some guy to move a few things a few centimetres on my bike, but given I've ridden over 100 hours this year so far and am likely to hit double that by the end of the year, it'll work out at about 50p her hour for just this year, and it doesn't get much better value than that.

With regards to bike fits, if someone wants to try it out using a cheaper method ask at your LBS.

Mine gave me a bike fitting for £25 by a sports injury guy who is a keen cyclist. He obviously didn't record me riding but he do most of the stuff you mentioned in your previous post.

Food for thought if you want to try it first.

I think you need to have the chain installed before you set the b-tension - if you have got it fitted then I'm not sure.

Help with my gears OCUK please.

Just got my bike up on my stand and the gears work flawlessly but when I'm riding it they don't go on the first click but move on the second click and then will jump two gears, this is both going up & down.

Any advice?

go on youtube and search for videos on how to adjust your gears, its pretty simple tbh but getting it 100% right takes a bit of time! :) mine for e.g. switch properly all the way bar 3rd ring where i have to "force it" on in a way.. annoys me but i kinda got used to it..

Can anyone recommend a good bike insurer? I'm going to start commuting to work this week and my bike (2012 Allez) will be locked up outside so obviously I want to keep it covered just incase.

Yesterday was a day of gubbed bearings in work.

Here is a BB30 bottom bracket. Top bearings are obviously new, bottom pile of bits used to look like the new bearings.

And this is a wheel hub, where the bearing surface has cracked and moved further inward.

I used ETA their T&C's are straight forward and upfront which I like.

Also go thorough quidco for a decent cashback amount as well

I've watched several and while it's on my stand everything works fine like in the videos but when I ride, it starts playing up!
I can't see why sitting on it should make a difference.

squeals? as in the actual brake mechanism makes a noise or is it the pads making a noise when they touch? - my bmx does it all the time due to painted rims and soft pads :)

never had it on a aluminum braking surface with medium/hard compound pads
