Ok slightly way of losing weight than some of you gym goers are taking but its seems to be working for me. I'd like some pointers though please.

So diet first. I like the idea of paleo kind of diet. So I'm gluten free, processed free as far as possible, no added sugar, milk free. One cup of coffee a day pre work out.

So:

Monday

4 scrambled eggs, salmon fillet, spinach
Big salad with chicken breast some balsamic vinegar
Sweet potato with steak and veg.
Nuts and 2 bananas

Tuesday
Gluten free oats with almond milk and blueberries.
Chicken and salad
Chicken thigh with veg.
Nuts and 2 nectarines

Wednesday
Mackerel fillet 3 boiled eggs spinach
Gluten free, dairy free sausages with salad
Chile con carne with white rice.
Nuts and 2 bananas.

Thursday
4 egg omelette with goats cheese and spinach
Tinned tuna in spring water with salad.
Left over chile con carne with sweet potato
Nuts and an avocado and an apple for snacks

Friday
Got up late so had a banana smoothie.
Mackerel and salad
Cheat meal
Pizza and ice cream.

Saturday
Turkey steak and eggs and spinach
Chicken and salad
Paleo pastry (coconut flour) fish encreute With veggies.
Nuts, kiwi and some pineapple for snacks.

All meat cooked in coconut oil or butter. All salads consist of watercress, lettuce, spring onions, beetroots, peppers and chillies.

I have got a bio planter so do mix in a few bean shoots when they mature.

The thing I struggle with is getting enough water in, but I'm working on it. I get about 6 pints of water in generally.

I really enjoying this way of eating, but do get the occasional sweets pang so I make almond milk ice cream with raw cocoa and agave in it and some nuts, fixes my pang no probs.

Been doing this for 10 weeks. Have lots more recipes to eat too, so won't get bored. I've gone from 20 stones to 18.5 with vey little exercise. I've just started on my exercise plan which is a lot of tabata work and bodyweight/kb routines. It'll be great for my jitsu/judo when my knee is fully healed. I fully fatigued when I've done the routine. But I'm also sure when I'm less embarrassed re my shape ill get a decent gym routine going too.

So thoughts would be great.

Glad it's working out for you. At your size, losing weight would pretty much be a doddle on any sensible hypocaloric diet.

Only real thing that springs to mind, critique wise, is the severe lack of dietary calcium. In the end, you can believe what you want to believe on this front, but mainstream science would have you at risk of calcium deficiency on this diet. Are you making sure to take supplements?

In the end, whatever you do is your choice, but if this is to become a permanent fixture you might end up with bone problems later in life. So keep that in mind.

Ah. Yes, Alpro almond milk for example has added calcium. I guess that'd do provided you're drinking large amounts of it. On the bright side the unsweetened variety is so low in calories you could probably drink a whole litre of the damn thing without it hurting the diet.

alpro unsweetened. I really like it. its pretty cheap too, might make a carton !l of my intake then.

other snacks include peanut butter and celery.

supplements wise,
I have a greens powder:

and Krill oil:

Flax:

for joint recovery:

was wondering about adding in a protein powder. Im starting to find my recovery times are longer than they used to be and im loving my DOMS at the moment.

was thinking this...

Personally, I think you can save on the Cissus and Greens powder provided you keep your diet nice and varied.

The cissus is also not particularly as awesome as described (admittedly, only from my personal experience), being of greater use when injured (research concerns trauma rather than daily use) rather than just recovery from the gym.

Nevertheless tried krill oil, mind, but it sounds like uber fish oil...

Thanks, I was using it post knee surgery but to be honest I was going to finish the pot and stop as Ive not felt much benefit.

Sounds sensible.

The bummer with it is that it looks like one of the few supplements that may actually be useful, but the research on it is scant because it can't be patented by Big Pharma.

Buying the supplement can also be tricky due to varying concentrations of active ingredient, too.

I used it for a shoulder injury and have no idea if the recovery was better or worse than without. This was based on one of the few well-controlled dosing studies I saw, which suggested that a given dose helped reduce bone time healing in dogs by nearly 50% (). As you can probably tell, mileage across species and injury types may vary. :D

Good luck with it all, regardless!
