Am just wondering how many of you S3 Or S4 owners have also cracked the screen on your phone...

I cracked the screen on my S3 a few months ago and my work mate cracked the screen on his S3 today at work and his girlfriend has also cracked her S3 screen.:(

C'mon chaps, you have to give us more than that noncommittal post. Maybe tell us all how you broke your phone, maybe say you and others are dumbasses for cracking several hundred pounds worth of phone, maybe warn everyone to buy a case, maybe accuse Samsung of an inherent manufacturing flaw in the screen, etc. Give us something, please :)

Dropped mine a lot. Dents in plastic and one side of phone is actually broken in half it seems.(well the plastic case has hairline split between screenside and battery cover)

Edit. But no my glass has survived touch wood.

Cracked my white S3 screen a few months back. Decided to try and fix it myself, so I bought a new screen plus adhesive for around £15. Few hours work and it was as good as new!

Few weeks later, I lost that phone and decided to buy a blue S3 replacement off eBay (I didn't have insurance, or the money for a brand new one) with a cracked screen. £15 and a few hours later, sorted.

The blue phones are definitely a lot harder to fix though.

I cracked the perspex of my S3 about 3 weeks after I got it.

I was sat outside and it fell out of my pocket onto a paved surface. I was gutted. 3 weeks into a 2 year contract. I've learned to live with it. It's only the outer plastic that's cracked. The screen is intact and touch works as it should.

I did enquire about repair, but at £180 as the screen is glued to the outer perspex so you have to buy both, I decided just to stick with it.

Another person who has cracked the glass. While the cracks are on the edge of the front glass, it doesn't approach the screen at all. Very weak phone, don't recall dropping it. Only thing is I kept it in a colder room (central heating broke) overnight.

Two of my colleagues have cracked their S3's glass. One dropped it from about waist height getting out of a car and the other one fell off the sofa onto a fireplace.

Wow, seems like a lot of cracked screens on the S3, do these have Gorilla glass? I've dropped my Atrix several times, just dents in the speaker mesh from what I can see.

The main reason why the GS 3 glass screen cracks when dropped is due to the design, the glass extends right to the edge so when dropped there is a very high chance that the glass edge will be where the phone lands.

And then as someone else has said, phones are becoming thinner and thinner these days with bigger screens, less bezel etc. so they are more likely to break :(

I want these companies to "really" concentrate on the durability (and battery life now), it is a joke how fragile these newest phones are and I hate using cases these days especially when you have a really nicely designed phone that feels great in the hand!

Saying that, next year could be the start of flexible screens so screen/glass cracking etc. shouldn't be an issue then!

But it really us the buyers that have made mobile phones so weak...

As we all want a very slim lightweight phone with an extra large screen in a small as possible housing....;)

Never cracked mine when I had it for 6 months, but it was one of the few weaknesses on the GS3.

But it does look like they are trying

Seeing as the new S4 active is meant to be dust proof & Water resistant

Yeah that does look pretty good, shame they went and used the GS 3 camera and LCD screen instead though!

But how does it fare when it comes to drops?
