Open top car for under £5K?

Also bmw 330 cab is worth a look it your in to that sort of car. My old 330 was a great drive after a remap. Just a shame that the old e36 M3s seem to top your budget for a good one.

Did you get anything after a remap? Can't imagine getting anything from a 3.0 NA

Me either, maybe 5% gain. It's not even like the argument of better power delivery can be applied to the M54 either as it's fairly linear

Must explain why they sold so many MR2s then ;)

I don't mind the MR2, but it's too compromised, the boot is small, interior even more plastic fantastic than the 5 and not as easy to maintain yourself, and thats before we even start to talk about power upgrades.

The mk3 MR2 is meant be a brilliant car, just even less masculine than an MX-5. I wouldn't be spending £5k on either of those cars either, it's just too much when you can get good examples of either for £3k or less. I don't think I'd even buy a convertible at this time of year.

If I were in your shoes I'd try to wait until the summer is over when 'verts are cheaper, then go shopping. Personally I'd go for an S2000 which would at least be half decent through the winter months.

Actually the mk3 is dead simple to work on yourself as there's bags of space in the engine bay

Interior is near as makes no difference the same as the mazda for me and overall there is just as much storage space (if not more) - though how useful it is would depend on what you're actually trying to fit in as it's split over a few areas.

What you gain is a car that is more impressive to drive (in the dry), a nicer engine and it is less likely to rust.

Regardless, both are a good £3-4k choice

I've always seen the MR2 as more masculine than the mx5. Sure the mx5 is a great car but it always looked like a hair dressers car to me.
