Haswell Build

Generally the closed loops are. The 240/280mm rad versions are the best where the 120/140mm version are very similar to top end air coolers.

But then there are plenty of happy users including Shadow Boxer who has his with a 4770k doing superpi 32M with ease at 4.93GHz.

I noticed in another thread Shadow mentioned that going for a better board would be worth it if delidding/WC. Ill be doing both (vice all ready)..so in light of that, would a different mobo be worth considering?

Hard to say, I think you will find other limitations (silicon lottery and your cooling) before the boards limit.

Not sure i could live with the look of the z87X-OC....but how about the Asus Z87 MAXIMUS VI HERO?

I dont know what to look for when it comes to the OC'ability of a board tbh. :(

Sin0822 take on it - http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?286318-The-GIGABYTE-Z87X-OC-Review-with-4770K

8 Pack says its great - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=24420390&postcount=478

I got my little 4670K upto 4.9Ghz, can boot into windows at 5GHz.

Also being Gigabyte you have a 3 year UK based warranty with the RMA center in Milton Keynes.
