Always on the M1.....
Am off to Malaysia on Saturday for 2 weeks, flying into Kuala Lumpur initially for 2 nights.

I'm then looking to go to Sabah or Sarawak, but need some pointers as to which is preferable. Both seem amazing and I suspect I'd be delighted being in both, but I've only got a further 12 days and I think I might struggle to go to both in this time.

Anybody any experiences to guide me?

And I don't suppose, randomly, anybody lives in KL and fancies playing tour guide for a day??!

Cheers!

I did both in less than 12 days, it is possible.

We did Kuching, Mulu national park, Kota Kinabalu and Brunei.
Didn't have time for Sandakan..

It's all amazing to be honest!

Do you like scuba diving at all? If you do then Sipidan which is over on east of Sabah is hard to beat, and is probably one of he best sites to dive in the world. Climbing Mt Kinabalu is also good fun. I absolutely loved Sabah when I travelled in Malaysia for a few months when I was student. Never did Sarawak though so can't compare

Bloody hell, did you stay still long enough to take any photos?

Was thinking about doing one or the other, was concerned if I tried doing both, I'd not really do either.

And never really thought about doing Brunei - perhaps save that for when I go back and do Singapore!

Does seem like most people I speak to seem to have been to Sabah, though I suspect that's purely coincidence.

I only went to Brunei to tick another country off the list :p

I would've loved to have stayed longer in Borneo, but that's for another time.
It depends what you want from your trip really and what you like doing.

I wanted to see as much as possible, realistically.

Hey! I fly to Indonesia Monday :D

Staying 3 1/2 weeks though :D. 2 of which are diving. :)

Would much prefer 3 weeks, but bloody work calls.. Looking at a bit of diving off east coast, Sipadan.

Looking like 5-6 days in each of Sabah and Sarawak. Had been told had to fly back to KL to fly back down to Borneo, obviously complete rubbish.

It all looks amazing! I'd like to see as much as I can, but am sure could be talked into coming back.
