Hi there guys, urgent question

I'm looking to get a 12gb Superslim today and I already have the original (fat) 60gb PS3 that died - no longer turns on yadda, yadda...

If I get the appropriate caddy and transfer the hard drive from the dead one to the new one, will this corrupt the new PS3 in any way? I know that the drive will need to be formatted and that I'll lose the current data on it (not bothered by this) but just wondered whether the transplant could adversly affect the new Slim.

Any advice on this would be hugely appreciated since I really want to know whether to get the caddy today with the console rather than using it in its 12gb incarnate only to have to back-up and do the transfer anyway. Plus I have some old downloaded games I'd want to re-download again!

Thanks in adavance guys!

I seem to recall that the console will ask you if you want to copy what's stored in the 12GB flash memory to the HDD when you install one. Might be worth checking.

Thanks for the info guys.

And in case anyone else is interested in doing the same I just walked into GAME and picked up the caddy for £7.99. The 12gb console was £139.99 and that included LBP2 and a 30-day PSN+ trial. That's the cheapest I've seen both the 12gb Super slim and the official caddy - even including online, which was surprising. Just for info....

Good price, I picked up a pre-owned one from game. £95 delivered + 12month warranty. Only going to keep for a few months hence went with the pre owned one.
