Friend of mine just bought a £40 topup, due to the price rise coming this July.
thing is he has already got £30 on his meter, this will last him about 3 months.

If he keys in the new topup now he will be switched to the new higher tariff on 1st July

But if he holds off and just uses what credit he has for the next 3 months he wont be on the higher tariff, so saving a bit!!

Thing is,,, as he has already bought the topup, how long will it stay valid ?
Could he wait 3 months before keying it in ?

Thanks for your time reading this
Hope someone can advise

NIE top-ups don't expire, so I don't see why Airtricity's would be allowed to. Top-up meters are pretty well regulated in NI.

NIE are bumping their prices by 20% in July too so we've loaded our meter with plenty before they've had the chance to issue the dreaded 40 digit top-up code.

You get the same 2.5% discount as you get by paying by quarterly direct-debit, so it's a no-brainer if you want to avoid a big bill every 3 months.

Hi Cob,
That was the plan (preLoad) but when he got the topup today it has the 40-60 digit code to change over.

So we not sure if we dont key it in for the next few months will it work after that !

He'll be grand. The reciept would say otherwise if there was a time limt (like there is on some mobile phone top-ups).

The top-up code will be linked to his top-up card and won't be going anywhere.

Cuz he was late getting the topup (without the 60 digit code)
He will only save about £5 but thats about 2weeks lecy for him.

Better than nothin
