Animal Crossing: New Leaf

What is Animal Crossing?

A sandbox game.. your the mayor of a town and you have to keep your towns folk happy, and expand it etc.

There is like loads of insects / fish / fossils to collect and you get them by digging, fishing or catching insects with a net.

It all happens in real time as well, so like halloween in real life is halloween in-game and so is xmas etc, and so are the seasons.

Sounds interesting.

I've just never played it or really seen it, I have heard about it for ages though.

Might pick a copy up when I've got time.

Ordered a 3DS XL off a popular online shop, cheaper but with a bit of a wait :(

Tempted to buy one in a shop full price and return the one bought online to the shop ;)

Can anyone tell me what i'm actually meant to do? Lol.

Played it yesterday for the first time and paid for my house. Spent the rest of the evening fishing and bug catching with no real purpose. Does the game change each day? Is it literally just fishing everyday?

You keep getting bigger houses, make sure you collect the bugs / fish fossils etc and give them to the museum to get your townsfolk to like you.

Go to the town hall and sit in the back chair, once you have 100% approval, you can start building public works and ordinances.

You just make you town bigger and better. Get on with the friends codes and visit other people, makes it more fun

I picked up my copy from Tesco Direct, arrived on day release and have really enjoyed the game so far. My friend code is;

2122-6185-3688

I'll try and add you all tonight.

So far the game is superb. I've played the original GC version and a lot of Wild World, which remains my favourite so far. However New Leaf is certainly addictive so far, and the changes that have been made, although subtle, are very well thought out and add a lot of value (and less frustration) to the overall experience.

I'm not doing so well though, I'm just kind of pottering about, I've visited a few friends towns and I realise how much more creative they are than me :(

I picked this up in favour of the Last of Us, simply because I have an exam coming up shortly and I know if I bought the Last of Us prior to that, I would simply have to complete it as soon as possible. New Leaf is possibly the best “pick up and play for fifteen minutes” game there is, and suits my current revision timetable.

I now wish I’d have bought the digital copy, though. Can I transfer my current town to the digital copy if I bought it?

Thanks niroe, will consider this, as I'll be playing many different games for long periods of time and will probably want to play bits of New Leaf in between play sessions, save my time getting the cart out over and over.

Also, will the 4GB storage be sufficient for AC NL? Worth upgrading?

You will be fine, the game is around 1GB

And on a slightly different topic, I've worn so much of my grass away by running - time to start planting flowers to fix it :(

Can you only buy the game as a digital download from the nintendo shop?

It's a £5 more, tempted to just wait not a fan of digital content anyway.

I'd go all digital if first it told you the game size before you bought it and secondly account based, if you lose your 3DS how do you get your games back?

Also can't believe they're still using friend code stuff
