Looking for a phone to replace my aging Desire:eek:
I was just about to buy a new Nexus 4 16GB when I was offered a second hand Xperia Z - for just about the same as Nexus 4 16GB - with some minor marks in the sides which will not be visible after the bumper.
Thing is - with the Xperia Z, there is no receipt so warranty would be a no go I assume(or has to be done through the original buyer).

Should I just get the Nexus 4 and avoid some headaches?

Personally wouldn't buy a device without warranty when the opportunity to buy one with cover is there. I'd go Nexus 4 in this situation.

Same here, dont matter about the phone I wouldnt spend a couple of hundred pound on something without any warranty.

You wont be dissapointed ive just got the n4 and compared to the s2 and s3 it just feels so solid and quality

Doing some research I've found some saying bad things about the camera???
Camera in a phone is not a major importance to me as I have a DSLR for main pics but for occasional(drunk party pics etc) phone camera has its moments :)

I was just about to mention that...the camera is tolerable. Ok for occasional unimportant snaps, but not on the level of the S3, S4, iPhone 5, HTC One etc.

Should mention that when they do their job correctly, Google's warranty service is pretty good.

If it was a choice between a brand new Xperia or a brand new Nexus 4...I'd still pick the Nexus 4

Hell, I'd pick a second hand N4 over a new Xperia anyday

Yeah, it's a shame about the camera. I'm hoping for a brilliant Nexus 5 later this year though so hopefully that comes with a decent one.
