Hi,

Does anyone do this rather than go by the National not so express or get scammed by our overpriced rail network?

Years ago I used to park in Wimbledon, but I was wondering if anyone knows of a decent multi storey that I can park in Southwest/West London to have a day in London at a reasonable price and with easy tube access?

Not the right area but if you want central line access from the west i regularly park in west ruislip, plenty of free street parking and it is the end of the central line, so no changes to get right into the city :)

Problem is that the tube doesn't really serve SW London. Your options are really Wimbledon, Richmond or Heathrow.

I park in Hounslow West. £5 all day Monday to Friday (take coins). It's right next to the underground station but it is an open air car park rather than multi story. Since they doubled the price about 18 months ago its never more than half full during the week. On weekends it becomes an open air market but there is still some parking or you could travel 5 minutes more up the road to Osterley but this one fills up fast if you're not arriving early.

I can give you a sneaky tip. Look up Carson Road in Dulwich, SE21. You can park on the road there for free amongst the exotic cars and multi million pound houses. There is always space and your car will be safe despite being on the road. Then it is a two minute walk to West Dulwich train station which is a 12 minute train ride into Victoria and the tube network from there.

You can park free all day in Teddington in all the roads except those right next to the station (a cunning 'residents only' from 8:30am to 10:00am to stop the commuters). The train is a bit slow to Waterloo (35 mins) but it's convenient and safe.

If you're driving in that way, you can also still park in any of the roads round Shortlands, Beckenham Junction, Penge East and Sydenham Hill on that line :)

I used to live in Muswell Hill, North London. all the roads (off the main st's) were free to park. When I moved away I would drive down and park there then get the bus/underground into town.

Easy to get to/from the M1 too.

Park towards the top near Kingston Road in Teddington and walk to Kingston Station, 20 minutes into Waterloo.

weekend or weekday?

Weekend there are loads of central on road parking for free. especially in the city. I usually park off harp lane, EC3R. in a little court yard, can park for free all weekend and has good connections to central/district line etc.

We park at Richmond sometimes when going to football (direct overground to Highbury & Islington), only costs £1.40 or summat on the Oyster card.
