Down under mate!
Contacted O2 who blocked the phone and black listed it.

So when they say 'black listed' does that mean the phone cannot be used anymore and is basically a doorstop? Or could the thief sell it on and someone could put a new sim in and use it.

If the phone is sent out of the country (usually they get sent east) then they can become usable again.

The phone is blocked from connecting to a mobile network they can use the other functions of the phone. Plus as said above the network block is only europe wide so can be used in another country.

The network block is only UK wide so in effect the phone can be used as a wifi only device or work in any other country.

Yep it's a paper weight unless someone can change the IMEI which in itself is also illegal

//edit : Bad news fella, would hate to have this happen to me - sorry

Yes but it's so easy to do and would only cost someone £10 :(
they should make it harder.

*waits for someone to ask ThundyCat if he wants his phone back*

Bad luck man :( Is it covered by some kind of insurance?

This is the exact reason I don't let IE save my passwords on my phone.

But as Acme says, if it's expensive you could always claim on your home insurance if it's covered under that, I know for a fact all our devices are.

My mum's phone showed up in Morocco a few weeks after being stolen and blocked. I clicked install on as many free apps on the play store as possible, waited a bit and then changed the google password (there was nothing important on it anyway.)

I claimed on the house insurance last year when I lost my phone. I then remembered I had phone insurance with my bank :(. Was dreading the renewal cost thinking it was going to shoot up, but to be fair it went down a few quid.

lucky for my I dropped mine in the canal lol
