My Evo 9

That's good to know as that is the first page I looked at for running costs! The figures imo aren't that scary for what you are getting but people on MLR make out that you will have to re-mortgage to run the cars

Thank you :)

It's when things break where it becomes expensive. Things on Evo's tend to be a lot more to replace than on other cars. You also need to know where to look for parts as if you go direct to the factors it's very expensive. £700 odd for a steering pump is what I was quoted yet I can get them from breakers for £50 odd.

Had a decat fitted today.

Only got it to get a bit more noise from the exhaust and it's done just that. It's still as it was when driving around normally but when you put your foot down it opens up nicely. Very happy and for £60 fitted I can't complain really.

This I'll get a remap next and then leave the power mods well alone.

Remap and oil change booked for the 13th of July. Hoping for 400/400. The decat has definitely made a big difference to the power but I fancy getting it mapped more for a safety aspect rather than numbers... which are a good bonus I might add.

My FQ-360 made 358BHP stock.

Milltek turbo back exhaust with de cat resulted in 388BHP. Forge intercooler then took this to 415BHP.

No remap, but FQ-360 have a stock map which is quite flexible, so little need for a remap though still gains to be had in low/mid range.

The FQ-330 and below have stock maps which are not flexible, so definitely need mapping as such otherwise they peak around 350-360ish, so a remap works very well and 400/400 is certainly possible. :)

When they are 400/400 the power keeps pulling hard right too 7000rpm whereas when running around 350ish they feel a bit flat after 5500-6000rpm, so you'll love the remap and decat. :)

Stunning Car Chris , Thinking of putting AD08's on my Evo X , best price I can find is £200 per corner on 18's and that's not fitted. Any prices lower than that be certainly good to know...

I bought them from Rarerims, cheapest price. Also look in the MLR shop if you're a member.

Gibbo , it used to slack off a little at around 6000 rpm, but that doesn't happen any more. It feels like I've gained 20bhp without the remap. :D

They benefit hugely from decat, when I de-catted mine it pulled to limiter hard, almost felt as if it needed another 1000rpm or so and would still have made power. You'll love it at 400/400 when you go WOT you get the impression the car is tearing the tarmac up from beneath you and you'll be hitting the limiter a couple of times until you get used to it. Gives the car a much rawer feeling, a bit like the old EVO's / Scoobs where boost came on high up, but of course you'll have advantage of peak torque around 3000rpm. :D

Yeah it's pretty relentless as it is, when 3k comes you really get thrown into your seat, especially in the lower gears. 4th gear is insane though. :D

My Evo 7 FQ300 with just a decat put out 352bhp when I RR'd it :)

I really want an evo as my next car, possibly next year. Does getting a decat fitted affect your insurance in anyway? Say if you had an accident?

Most places won't even insure a car with a decat any more as they obviously aren't road legal and you'll never pass an MOT with one now. I had to take mine off to get insured once my renewal came round.

I had many a car pass with a decat on as long as there booted and warmed up before hand .

Nice little write up Chris , But I did tell you before to be care full when you start putting little mods on it will not stop there :D

I messaged green light who I'm currently with and they don't cover decats. Would using something like a 200 cell sports cat give good results?

40-100 in 3rd gear then 4th.

My EVO X with all mods was 60-100mph in 5.6s on racelogic box, yours is 5.9s on speedo, so probably around 6.5s circa at moment as EVO speedo's are not accurate.

The Mustang was 3.8-4.2s and the 911 is 5.0s-5.4s I think from memory, just need to double check.
