Morning gents,

I am looking at buying an electric razor. I have abut £100 to spend on one. I would like to be able to use it in the shower but its not a necessity. The one at the top of my list at the moment is the Philips aquatouch.

So what do you use, Thanks

Dan Dan

Buy a double edged razor and some decent cream and some blades. I know this isn't what you asked for but it's what you need (probably).

e: why electric? Reasons, Timothy, reasons!

Because I will be deploying out of the country for 4 months and its a lot easier that a wet shave. Especially in the field.

I have a Braun 5770 I have had for about 10 years and its awesome (have replaced the foil in that time ofc) simply turn on, shave face, turn off, no need for gel/aftershave/etc.

Because he's not a damn caveman? :P

Any reason why it has to be rotary?

I just purchased one of the Braun 3 series for under £100 and it does a good job. I found the philips rotary shavers to pull at the hairs rather than cut/shave them.

I think with electric a lot of it is down to the coarseness of your facial hair.. I tried a couple and it was like a scene from Saw. As long as your hair isn't that thick you should be ok.

I have one of the Phillips HS range I use in the shower for quickie shaves. Does a pretty good job, very quick.

As already said for the best shave you have ever had get yourself in the shaving thread to source a DE, some blades, brush, balm etc etc.

Truly the best a man can get.

But for practical and safety reasons a suitably waterproof electric would be the thing to use in a shower.

Well, there'll be a go-to which most Army (?) folk choose so I'm not sure what the OP is looking for here? 'Average electric razor' is hardly a challenging basket-filler, especially when it's for 4 months. Just buy one you like the look of, it'll still be awful but you won't care because of the time frame.

I will use it after I return as well, this has just prompted me to buy one. I have read the reviews on a lot now and have decided to go with the Philips AT890/17 AquaTouch. Had the best reviews and around £70. Thanks all.
