Salutations,
So I come home from uni a few weeks ago and after a day or two I noticed that every time I booted it would instantly restart which then presented me with a overclocking error. It would then ask me to press any key and it would restart with the default s
ettings. Then I'd reapply my overclock and boot as normal. Now I know my overclock is fine as I had been error free for the past 4 months. Anyway I should have taken more notice of it but I just never did as I'd get the error only when I turned my computer which would be once each day. So today everything's gone to pot. I turned it on and never got the error it just wouldn't post I did the usual of a few power on and off's to no prevail. Finally I pressed the CMOS clear switch about 2 or 3 separate times and it booted with the default bios. This time I tried the default settings restarted and I've not been able to get it to post since. No beeps no anything.

I've tried:
Removing my second GPU
Removing my sound card
Removing all ram
Trying one stick of ram also trying the other stick
Removing the hard drives
Clearing CMOS via battery and button
Trying different ram slots with both 1 and 2 sticks

Ive been at it for hours, I just hope the motherboard isn't damaged as I'm really low on funds. :(

do you have a spare psu to try?

cant think whatelse you can try, maybe get the backup bios to kick in but not sure if this works on z68,does on z77

hold front power button in and flick on the psu powerswitch then flick it off soon as board lightsup of fan spins,do that three or four times then let it powerup,it should then flash the main bios with the backup bios

if that fails I would rma the board for repair, atleasst youll get it fixed

I got the board about a year ago off eBay so I probably can't RMA it. My psu doesn't have a power switch on it unfortunately but I do have a spare PSU I could try.

you can still rma, gigabyte will accept as they go off the boards serial number not by how many owners

try spare psu it could be that that's failing/failed

Turns out its the PSU tried my spare and it worked first time. Not really sure how to properly find the fault with the PSU. I have braided cables but they all seem in good nick and its weird how everything powers on just fine. :S thanks for the advice. :D at least I know the problem.
