Giving up your train seat...

I only give up my seat for pregnant women, disabled people or OAPs. Why would you give it up for anyone else? :/

I recall taking the train whilst on crutches, as I had surgery on my hip some months prior. I had great difficulty holding on to the support beam, and yet no one was prepared to part with their seat, until an old gentleman got up and offered me his. A true exception to the rule.

Same here. I commuted with a broken leg and crutches for 4 months and was rarely offered a seat despite having difficulty standing. Of the few people to actually offer me their seat none of them were women.

Pregnant, the elderly, or injured (Hurt leg, arm etc.)

People with tonnes of shopping bags, nope. The obese, nope.

Only if people look in some discomfort
I have no set rule as in older people or pregnant women
As has been said before, most older people are perfectly fine to walk so why not stand? Usually it would be entirely their choice to travel in peak times

Will soon be starting to commute properly to a lovely part of birmingham, not looking forward to that
Have done the journey once before in peak times and it is mostly just full of school kids

School children - I don't like that at the best of times and like them even less when on a train.

So you're a Northern Rail user too, it's a hard life isn't it.

Bolton - Salford Central every morning. It is disgusting.

Also anyone that tries to hog two seats to themselves gets told to move the **** up and stop being selfish.

Also, fat people should be made to stand up on the train.

Train....Public transport.....mixing with the muggles.....urgh

In all seriousness OAP's and pregnant women definitely not pregnant men

I'll give up my seat for pregnant women and anyone who looks like they have difficulty standing, i.e infirm elderly people (not ALL elderly people), people on crutches etc.

lol, last time I didn't even say anything, I just sat on the semi empty seat and barged them along. They got up and stood the next time we stopped and someone else took the empty seat. Two for one. Good all round I say!

I dont care who you are.. old/disabled/preggers/blind/stupid/chav/bmw driver ... i will never ever give up my seat on the train for you!! I spend a good few hours on trains every week and not once have i ever given it up nor will i ever!!!

But then i am the driver!!!! :D

It drives me insane when people take up two or more seats on trains due to them sitting in the aisle seat or having bags on their seats- especially when it is peak time.
This x9000.

I want to punch half the people on the train in the back of the head for doing exactly this.

Ignorant *****.

No-one as if you can't stand then why go on a journey where you're not guaranteed a seat? I'd go off-peak if I definitely needed to sit down.

People dragging pushchairs onto the tube at rush hour, grrrrrrrrrrrr

I am similar, I give up my seat to old or pregnant people. It drives me insane when people take up two or more seats on trains due to them sitting in the aisle seat or having bags on their seats- especially when it is peak time.

man up and tell them to move their **** ? up here on the Newcastle metro I've often heard the driver on the loud speaker telling people to get there feet off the seats like they should.

Buses seem the worst for it though drivers on buses generally won't say a damn thing even if someone is smoking upstairs
