Been asked by my brother to source him some new discs and pads all round. Thought this would be easy since I done this before with my old focus...

Why are there so many different options, sizes and types?

All Pagid parts:

Front discs: 104111028
Front discs: 104111048*

Rear discs: 104111038
Rear discs: 104111058* (presuming these ones as they are vented)

Front pads: 101110508 (lucas)
Front pads: 101110548* (teves)
Front pads: 101110728 (brembo)

Rear pads: 101110598* (hurray there is just one choice!!!)

The ones I have * next to are the ones I would presume are the ones that are needed. Car in question is a 118d SE 2008.

Also are sensors needed on all axles?

was in the same boat when looking for some on my 330d, use realoem with his chassis number and it should bring up the correct part number, then you can use that to get the information of the sizes etc and order the ones you need, one sensor at the front and one at the back normally

Thanks, used the website and picked the right disc sizes.

However it doesn't explain which front pads to use. I still have the choice between Teves, Lucas and Brembo?

You normally only have one sensor per axle so should need two

Just buy whichever pads take your fancy if they're all the correct fitment.

I assume it's not the Brembo's

So it's between the Tevez and Lucas. They look different on the pictures, and the sizes are different too...

What's wrong with brembo pads?

Tbh i'm really not sure what you're getting confudled about - just pick some and press the button? In all likelyhood the pads will be fine. Take it you've checked the dealer too?

Teves == Alfred Teves Brake Systems == ATE, which is the manufacturer of the BMW brake calipers, if that helps!

If you're buying BMW parts, the parts department will tell you what your car needs. If its aftermarket, just go for a well known brand which isn't too cheap.

Are you just after OEM replacements or do you want better?

BMW OEM pads are really good but I've just (as in yesterday) fitted some Ferodo DS2500's with new BMW OEM disks & the performance is really impressive.

You'll need one new sensor front and back. You can reuse if the sensor hasn't activated but for the tiny cost it's not worth risking it.

I get my BMW OEM parts from Cotswolds BMW (despite living in Stoke) because they give much better pricing than my local dealership (disks were £25 off per axle delivered). I just PM cotswoldbmwmini on babybmw.net forums. Before dismissing BMW OEM completely, get a quote from these guys.
