Top Gear (Series 20) Returns Sunday 30th June 2013

To add towards countering asim18's (lol asim etc) argument, they used to manage 8-10 episode series.

Take a look at the episode listings for series 1-6, 8, 10, 12 and 16.

Budget isn't it I guess. Their stuff is already way out of date thanks to youtube, Chris Harris et all. They have to offer something different, the high budget group tests across Europe and around the world and so on.

Which is why they started filming it in March...

Yep :). Precisely when season 19 ended.

So March-July for 6 episodes. Double that to 12 episodes and they would have had to start filming back in December/January. But January is when Season 19 started. Proving the point that it keeps it more current. If they had 12 episodes in this season we would have to wait to see the Toyota/Subaru GT86/BRZ in this season rather than getting it over and done with last season.

Think about it, if the 10 O'clock news was only broadcast once a week with a huge gap of 6 days between shows, it would be pretty old and pointless. Same applies to Top Gear, If they blew their yearly budget in one massive 19 episode season, they'd be dead for half the year. More seasons with less episodes = more current cars.

? That wasn't my argument at all and I'm not arguing anything. I never said they cant manage more than 6 episodes.

I'm merely stating the fact that less episodes and more seasons equals more current content.

Apparently, so do the guests... :p

I'll take the 6 episodes, just hoping its because they spent the entire budget on good content.
