I have a Radeon HD 6970 and run it through a mini display port to my iMac 27" screen and run it at 2560 x 1440. Now I know that the 6970 will struggle at that res. I only play BF3 but should I upgrade the card or just add another 6970 in cross fire ?

Budget wise is about £150 + the sale of 6970

I have the 6970's in Xfire and I only play BF3 and I absolutely love the fps i'm getting which is around max 180 min 60-70ish though I would say average is around 100fps mark

Heavy fire fights big maps 64 players I think my CPU struggles and drops frames a bit, Also Xfire has around 60-70% usage on each card.

Hope this helps

Hi,

with just a single card, i would look to see what you can get for the 6970 and look at a card around the 7950/670 area (new 760 about to pop out on the market next week?),

Going xfire will give you a nice jump, which is what i have. However at this point in time its a massive dead end. New cards from nvidia on the market now with AMD looking at a September ish for their new cards, also with next to nothing out between now and October to require to much more than a 6970, if you can wait i.e card is not about to die then i would,

If you can get a cheap 7970 with a basic overclock it will give you about the same as xfire 6970's whilst still being on a single card if you need to upgrade right now

WOW really :-0 single 7970 = xfire 6970 damn i feel deflated now ;( lol
Also AMD will have a good edge in BF4 i'm sure that will sweet, maybe i should move my cards on?

Probably worth hanging on for AMD's new cards to arrive, should be in the next few months (sept-Oct). Your 6970 setup will be fine for a few months i reckon.
