Premier League court order

Its their own fault for having PL football on so many subscription channels. Put it on one channel so fans dont have to subscribe to sky, bt, espn and who ever else :(

Very likely to be granted if the ISPs are not going to challenge it.

You may be willing to pay, but the Premier League hold the rights to the matches and can choose to sell them to whomever they wish and attach whatever conditions they wish (within EU competition law). I expect the streaming site does not have their permission so is in breach of copyright law.

Of course, there are very easy ways around it...

If the ISP's don't challenge it, it'll most likely be granted, however there will be tons of ways around it if it does go through :)

can't you just use googles dns servers or something instead to get around it?
or just use something like hideman

seems such a pointless waste of money blocking sites when someone will just setup a mirror... there must be 100 pirate bay mirrors now

They should offer an online SD/HD stream for each match. I'd even pay a subscription if it meant I was able to watch just my team's matches - and perhaps even a pay-per-view one-off fee for other matches.

I've said before that I'd be happy to pay Sky for their football channels, but they insist on forcing me to have other crap channels at about £30 more than I'm willing to pay.

I'd probably pay a tenner+ a month to watch Villa's matches and Villa's matches only. However I won't pay £50 a month to watch maybe 5 Villa games a season on Sky.

They'll just do the same the last time their website got taken down.. Rename and new servers.

They need to adopt a NFL-esque Gamepass option. With Gamepass you can watch all of the games live, or later on demand (including pre-season). All the games in the archive (2009 onwards). Then there are features such as Redzone (where it flicks to games where they're in the 'redzone' of the pitch, which is close to the end zone, so you see more touchdowns from all the games) and you can have multiple matches on one screen.

To get that in the UK costs £129.99/year.

Not going to happen anytime soon, as it will reduce the fees that can be commanded. Sky and BT pay for exclusivity for the games they have, if somebody else is allowed to show it, they will not pay those prices. Instead the fees for rights continue to climb due to exclusivity deals.

The ones at fault really are the bodies that have the sports rights. You then have to have fair competition to stop companies having a monopoly on it. So at the end of the day, its never really in the interest of the sports fans.

These efforts are great for me being in the US, everytime they apply to get an site blocked by UK ISPs it's another site for the Favourites tab :D
