These cards are hitting the same price point now, but I can't find any reviews with recent driver sets (I understand the AMD cards got a performance boost in newer drivers).

So which is the best option for 1080p gaming ?

If you go for a 670 bear in mind the price might drop a fair amount when the GTX 760 arrives.

Thanks guys.

Hmmm, from a quick google it looks like the 760 is targeted slightly below the 670 performance, which wouldn't lower the price of the 670 logically.
Guess we will see soon.

So I know I am going for MSI Twin Frozr, just a case of which flavour AMD or Nvidia

It really does depend on the games you want to play. there are a few benchies around with the gtx 780 that show 7950 and 670 performance, from what i have looked at the 670 is nearer the 7970 non GE all stock never mind the 7950.

All out of the Box non overclocked of course.

So although the 770 is a higher clocked 680 the 760 is not based on the 670 is that correct? The pricing structure will be important if the performance is slightly less than the 670.

Both the 670 and 680 are still fantastic cards though I just wish the price would drop a bit further now were seeing lower priced 770's on the market. Will be interesting to see the 760 pricing. Possibly £220-250?

670,had one since April (gigabyte windforce) and its been rock solid, really really really quite and runs very cool, played over 30 different games on it and I've never heard it spin up.

Best card I've ever owned and had some good cards over the years.

I'd go for whatever's cheaper. Had a choice between 770 or 7970 but went for 7970 as it was £20~ cheaper.

The 7970 and 7950s are amazing value with such similar performance to the more expensive comparable NVidia cards.

I have the GTX 570 and looked at the excellent Gigabyte Windforce GTX 670 but at £289 it does seem too high when the Gigabyte Windforce GTX 770 is now only £329.

I think Nvidia will try and beat the 7950 with the GTX 760 in the £250 price bracket, this should push the 670 down further as vendors clear the older stock.

Id definitely still get a 670 if it was nearer the £220-240 mark! the GK104 based cards are still going to be a great choice until the Titan derived cards become more affordable.

Stick to your card for a week or two, see what impact the GTX 760 has on prices.

I'd go with the GTX 670 if the cost is the same, but in any other case, whichever is the cheaper. Video memory shouldn't be a concern at this resolution and Nvidia cards have generally better software support.

You should also know the 7950 comes in at a very low clocked 800Mhz and the 7950 BE is still only clocked at 925Mhz, they are clocked low to give a good lead for the 7970.

In reality they clock up equally and the 7950 is only 5% slower than the 7970 at the same clocks, and with them both having higher potential overclocking head room than the GTX 670, the 7950 also comes with 3GB of 384Bit of vRam vs 2GB - 256Bit on the GTX 670.

buy 7950 sell games 200 quid card which oc to 7970

best value card at moment
Agreed, 7950 has the benefit of 3gb of ram. How useful it will be in future is a mystery tbh. At present it's not an issue with either card unless your running multiple screens. 670 wise, i wouldnt buy a standard reference 670, bad cooler and they can be loud. Hence i went gigabyte 670 wf, oc'd they hit 680 speeds. Just have to have good case cooling and your sorted.

I wouldn't think the games are full retail, perhaps even just a download token ?
Either way I wouldn't think they are worth much now, having been out a while.

£20-30 difference is going to make no odds to me.

I haven't had any issues with ATi drivers, and they are updated regularly, so that isn't something I considered. If anything I was a little wary of NV drivers !

TBH I was starting to lean toward the 670, that info has reinforced my thoughts :)

Does anyone know if both the MSi twin frozr cards are on reference boards ?
Just thinking about future waterblock fitment, I will be keeping them on the standard coolers for a while, but may get them under water in future ...

I would get a 670. It's faster at stock and has the benefit of not using an external program to get some games smooth.

When there was a large price difference these concerns were overridden by the price difference but at around the same price point and buying again, I would have got a 670 rather than my 7950s.

I am happy with my 7950s but overall the nVidia package is a touch better IMO.

I don't understand that, why would he need and external program to get some games smooth?

The 7950 is just as smooth as the GTX 670. your also getting more GPU with the 7950.
