Dual monitor set-up

I am running a DGM IPS-2701WPH as my main monitor and an old Dell 22" as my secondary monitor.

I decided to move my room around today and now I cannot detect the Dell. I have disabled internal graphics, otherwise 2560x1440 was not available but now it will not detect the Dell.

If I turn on interal graphics then it either doesn't detect the DGM or only runs at 1900x1080.

It was working fine this morning before this change so I have no idea what has happened.

I would be grateful for any help as I am about half an hour from hurling it out the window!
 
Are both monitors connected to the 7950? Have you ensured that the 1440p monitor is connected to the dual-link DVI port? How are both monitors connected?
 
The DGM is connected to the graphics card and the Dell is connected via VGA to the motherboard.

I am pretty sure that was how I had it before it was all unplugged as I was not using any adapters.

What OS are you running (Win 7 may well auto detect one monitor)

Your Dell monitor will only ever work with the integrated graphics when connected to onboard VGA

I would switch off the integrated graphics for the moment, switch off. Reseat the graphics card (maybe different slot), switch back on and hopefully with only your main monitor and graphics active, it will redetect it.

Once that is working re-activate the onboard and get the Dell working
 
Yes it is Win 7 FrankJH.

The DGM is running fine now but it won't even detect the Dell, which is odd as if I turn internal graphics back on, it detects that but not the DGM...
 
Try rolling back windows and if it fails repeat reseating card......it has happened to me before as I was too lazy to shut PC reconnecting whilst swapping monitors around, did it again without turning it off a few dys ago but was ok that time.

Im no expert with onboard graphics /apu's (Ive got an ancient original i7) - but maybe there is a (graphics) BIOS option that is wrongly configured?

The only other thing I can think of - a bit of a long shot I admit;

1) Using your system via onboard graphics / Dell. Shut down, and remove the 7950.

2) Reboot and confirm your Dell /Onboard are still working ok. Uninstall AMD drivers completely

3) Reboot and confirm again (just to be sure).

4) Install the 7950 into a different slot if possible and download /reinstall newest drivers / Control Centre (I would suspect at this point Dell would still be No 1 monitor)

5) Reboot and change monitor priority to DGM
 
As said, check the BIOS options, for some reason it sounds like using one GPU disables the other. With Windows 7 both should be able to work side by side.

Under Device Manager, when working via the discrete GPU, can you see the onboard? How about vice versa?
 
Just to say thanks to all for your advice.

I moved the graphics card and the second monitor is back up and running now (although the wireless card is not, see network section!).
